Any ear pulling? any excessive drooling? Could be teeth, they start around 3-4 months, but it takes a while for them to pop out. If she doesn’t have a fever, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You could try baby tylonel or hylunds teething tablets, they worked WONDERS for both my kiddos. All natural too….

Most likely she is just out of sorts from a hectic weekend….

agreed, read those tutorials, they are great!

The pastels i use are both hard and soft, but not waxy. They are the constistency of chaulk. The hards I shave up with a razor blade, the softs I can just go over the stick with my brush and get powder. I really like them because i can get an airbrushed type look, I have complete control over shading and I can a great depth of color without losing detail on the sculpt. Do a layer or layers of dust, spray, layer/s, spray, etc…until you are happy. The process can take longer then paint, but I’m always happier with my end results when I pastel vs. just paints…

Ditto! Just give a try. I cannot draw more then stick figures, but it seems easier for me to ‘think’ in 3D. I started w/ acrylics and pastels. Even now I still prefer to work with pastels. I got an airbrush for xmas, so I have been adding that element as well. I really like it for base coating.

Oh my goodness! SO beautiful! I love everything about it! The colors are perfect, the scheme is awesome, it flows perfectly! Now tell me, how did you do the back ridge scales so cleanly? Did you airbrush them or hand brush?

I agree, very soft looking, I wanna pet him!

I just saw her on ebay! WOW! You really did a spectacular job! I’m SO impressed! Plus, the fact that you did all that with paint just blows my mind! I wouldn’t have the first clue on how to do that. Mine would come out looking like a blue unicorn!

    Excellent, excellent job!

Wow! Well, while I can sympathise with you on the moving, it’s hard to feel too bad. Lovely beaches, nice weather….congrats!!

of the detailed painting, like cutting in along the ceiling and painting all the trim, hubby has done that. He painted houses professionally for years, so he is good at that stuff, and I stink at it. I did the patching nail holes, sanding, caulking of the trim and I cut in the rest of the walls and did about half the actual rolling. It worked out well, I did a better job on the cailking then Jim could, my fingers are smaller, and he can cut in a ceiling like a friggin’ robot. The trim work was where all the time was. You wouldn’t think that, but when you go into an unfinished house that needs complete paint, you have to look close. And you start to see all the nail holes, every 16 inches on the trim, all the seems that need caulk, all the smudges and crap stuck everywhere from construction….All those things you don’t think about when you go into a finished house. It’s been fun and hard at the same time. What’s the hardest is sitting here in this cave of my inlaws when I want to be living in my new house. It’s SO hard for me to be patient. The countertops didn’t come in this week like they were supposed too and I would just like to scream at someone and MAKE them deliver my stuff tomorrow. but, ofcourse, thats not reality nor productive…so I just have to wait….

yes, pictures will follow SOON, as soon as I get countertops that is!! 😉

Well, we are *almost* done with the house and move. A few more baseboards to paint, countertops to arrive, movers to schedule, and voila! It has been a HARD road and I’m so pleased with how everything has come out. So, soon I’ll be back amongst the community, with paint brush in hand!!

I’m gonna send in a note to the teacher tomorrow to have her call me. I guess part of what makes me so uncomfortable with it is the puppets, and that this info is going to given to my son by someone I don’t know. It creeps me out to think of some wierdo making puppets touch each others privates.

Don;t get me wrong, we have absolutely talked to the kids about what ‘privates’ are, why they are that way, that nobody should be touching them there and to tell us if someone makes them uncomfortable, etc…

That is a really good point about all the weirdos popping up in schools, churches, etc….

I got a permission slip yesterday in my son’s work folder. I read it and couldn’t beleive what I was reading. It is for a sexual abuse education program that is being given to the school, grades K-8. For the younger kids they are using puppets to teach and demonstrate. It goes on to say that they plan on role playing with the older kids, I think grades 5-8. They intend to talk about innapproriate touching, uncomfortable situations, who you should tell, why it feels like a secret, etc…

I’m really torn. My son is 6, very sensative but very open with his dad and I. I’m uncomfortable with people I don’t know presenting this information to him. I feel he is too young to have any ‘sex issues’ brought up, especailly by the school. On the other hand, I don’t want to make a big deal out of nothing, and if the rest of the kids in his first grade class will be seeing this, then maybe he should too. I dont know, I just feel like he is 6 years old and this stuff should be up to Jim and I to talk about with him when HE is ready….How do we make this decision?

Me too!! I was driving home the other morning from school, past the new house and a Lynx ran across the road in front me. I stopped and got to watch it for a minute. I actually feel a little special to have seen one, they are pretty rare up here…

Have you gals thought about getting a sling or a snugglie? Natalie was a real snuggler and always wanted to be with me. i used an over the shoulder baby holder with her as well as a great snuggli and it made both of us happier!! It gets easier when they start to sit up on thier own….You may want to borrow a play mat and see if that works for five minutes or so….

We had a playmat similar to the one above, but it had a bunch of plastic chain things on it with detachable chewy toys. I liked it alot because we could change out the toys…

whats really suprising to me is that we have houses on 3 sides of us, seperated by a swath of woods in the back and not much on the sides. We also have a major road in front. The deer also look really healthy considering the long cold, snowy winter we have had.

in reply to: Pic of what was in my new backyard this afternoon…. #686568

So cool! My other house in the same town was loaded with deer….phantom deer….we always had loads of tracks, but never saw the deer…

Here, they appear on broad day light!!

yes, I saw that!! I am going to make one, as soon as I have the time and can get a couple good lights. I love the idea of using tissue papaer or tracing paper!
