The dark blue is a beep sapphire royal blue. You know the little brown and blue PYO dragon I recently did? That one has the lighter blue eyes. The Brindle KiRin Arrla did had the dark royal blue eyes. Lol, I’m a huge fan of Pepsi but I think their can colors are sorta somewhere inbetween these two blues.

You belittle yourself too much, Ski…the last PYO you did completely blew my mind!

That is always a dilemma. I can see both sides of the story but in the end…being a professional artist, you do need to look at your final product and profits. If someone spends 35 hours painting painstakingly by hand-blending and their horse sells for $300…but you can do the same quality paint job in half the time due to an airbrush and get the same price….your profit range is better for your work amount. As for paint…always try to get the best quality you can in any case…something to last, and factor your paint cost into your price. There is often a lot of jealousy when it comes to stuff like this. Artists can get real pissed off when they put in a ton of hours and somebody else takes half the time they do and sells for the same if not a better price. This causes the artist taking more time to really get furious and possibly quit…but from a business standpoint, hey, you HAVE to work towards your profit margin if you’re going to make it as an artist living off your trade. If the other artist wants to keep doing what she/he is doing and make less…that’s their problem. Most non-artists can’t tell the difference and therefore probably don’t care. They see something they like and want and buy. They don’t know the time involved in most cases…it’s the look and quality they want. It’s a shame another artist told you off…has happened to me…but if you don’t bend like the willow you’ll break in the long run. Take for instance traditional media. It’s starting to be replaced by digital media because it’s generally faster (not in every case but you get my drift). So, I bought software and hardware to keep up and also find a faster way to do artwork to keep my profit margins up.

I do love to paint them, but I can’t afford to just paint them for my own benefit and bought stock in PYOs for painting and selling on Ebay primarily. I still have more I have on hold for commissions I still will paint of course, but these are not slated for anyone. I’ve gone over all of my records for the PYOs and it’s just not meeting my requirements in sales so…I just have to let them go and recover my initial investment.

Currently I have the following available…for the standard list prices of $30 each ($35 for KiRins). Save on shipping with multiple buys. Whatever doesn’t sell here I will put up on ebay on Monday…but I hope to get rid of them here so I don’t have to pay EBay fees.

    KI-RINS:
    Green Eyes
    Orange Eyes

    WOLVES:
    Brown Eyes
    Blue Eyes
    Straw Eyes

    DRAGONS:
    Red Eye w/Red Jewel
    Orange Eye w/Red Jewel
    Dark Blue Eye w/Purple Jewel
    Green Eye w/Purple Jewel
    Bright Yellow Eye w/Yellow Jewel
    Grey Eye w/White Jewel

Haha, lol, no…I do appreciate everyone’s paint job! But I just personally can’t stand stuff like that…like for me to own…you know? It’s just not my thing. Also, all colors are welcome, I just ask for realistic color patterns.

BluePony, I do love this dragon and the colors are wild! But this is not what I’m looking for in a KiRin: http://www.windstoneeditions.com/galleries/displayimage.php?album=lastup&cat=10321&pos=0
where the head is one color, legs another, torso another, lower part another…or like half and half like maybe FrozenDragon has done: http://www.windstoneeditions.com/galleries/displayimage.php?album=49&pos=3. I mean I appreciate the skill and love Frozen’s work and others, but it’s not what I’m looking for in this contest. This one, by Dragonfeathers, is ok because it’s just the scales done that way: http://www.windstoneeditions.com/galleries/displayimage.php?album=66&pos=1
Do you kinda get what I’m trying to say now?

Prize for least well painted? No, I couldn’t have a vote for that…that would be aweful, but I do plan to throw in something to everyone entering…a little piece of art by me or something nice for all entrants

in reply to: Contest for a dragon family–CANCELED #550204

Ok, I changed the wording some to make it sound better. Basically, I don’t want the kirin to look dipped in paint like an easter egg with color layers, unless it’s just the scales only that way. I don’t want the head and front legs to be blue and the tail and legs red, you know?

in reply to: Contest for a dragon family–CANCELED #550202

Ok, no the runner up can have either a wolf, dragon, or kirin painted by me…but no griffin, sorry. Also, for blending…I just mean I don’t really like dragons that have one color at the top and then another at the base, like a gradiant going down. I like evenly dispersed colors naturalistica-like…not like half and half color or something. None of your kirins or anything have looked that way Dragon. I know what you’re saying though…yes you can paint the scales of the kirin that way if you like…but not the whole critter, you know? You’ve not done one like that though so no worries.

    UPDATE: See my recent comment.

This is a personal contest I am having which involves painting PYOs; but due to content, I wasn’t sure if I should post it here under flea market, under another topic, or just to my own forum. I don’t know, so I’ll just err on the side of posting this teaser and them my forum for all the rules: http://www.watergazersden.com/node/32956#comment-402372

The art is really kinda old, especially the scratch paper ones which ar ’99’s…don’t get too crazy. Lol, although I do appreciate it, this is just stuff I had lying around in a drawer aging and was going to just toss out or something. I just figured I could make a buck or two like a garage sale and just see. But I do thank you guys.

Thanks! I had originally made so many of the booksmooshies and shoulder sitters, but they never sold really well anyplace to warrent me making more, so I gave a whole bunch away at the con and such, and these are just the leftover ones people said they wanted put on hold but never got back to me on, etc. etc. and older art stuff.

I’ve gone through my studio and am getting rid of stuff. Check it out…lots of fantasy, clay, and graphite things…some older and some newer.
