I’m interested in this too, and sorry I haven’t been around lately guys. My hubby got me a cheapy airbrush for under $10 from a hardware store I can’t recall at the moment. It’s the kind that blows air at the paint or something like that where the paint doesn’t actually go into the brush at all…a type of thing you don’t need to take apart to clean. He got it basically to just test use because I want to attempt to paint my car…I haven’t tried this brush because I haven’t yet gone to a car parts lot to get some scraps and I’m afraid that it’s such a cheap airbrush that it may not perform anything like a “real one” so I may hate it and just give up based on that. I don’t want to say anything to him because he did buy me an art supply, which is a huge deal, but I am honestly afraid that when I do try it…which I must because he bought it for me as a gift, I might hate it and relate that to all air brushes. My only other airbrush experience was from junior high and I hated using it since it sprayed all over the place and had a super load compressor you couldn’t for the life of you talk over.
Anyway, have any of you tried really cheap airbrushes and can relate them to an actual decent model?
You can see it on my forum: http://www.watergazersden.com/node/33001#comment-404105
It doesn’t yet have a final finishing coat on, like gloss for the dragon and matte for everything else.I had saved up a while back for the Nintendo Wii, although all those funds had to go to medical bills. Regardless though, every time I go into a Target, Best Buy, WalMart or what-have-you, I always check to see if they even have any consoles I could maybe put on layaway or something and I have yet to see one on a shelf or even the controllers for that matter…so even if I did have the money to jump and buy one, I’d still never have one to this day. Have any of you guys gotten this yet? They still sell them on ebay for upwards of $300+ but who wants to pay more for a console etc.? I had played one before Christmas when a friend brought hers over for a party and got addicted, especially since she had the whole set up with multiple controllers, games, and everything. I even know people who work at Target who can’t get them and never know when they come in.
No worries then, I’ll still be here.
Occassionally I do, depending on which critter it is (I won’t do a griffin right now). At the moment I am really pushing it to work on the werewolf book project I’ve got but I am always open to taking a commission if you don’t mind it taking a month or something for me to get on since I’m kinda working commissions in spurts.
I kinda feel like she got a royal screwjob. I am going to offer to paint her a wolf I think, for the same price she paid if she gets the refund, which I will be backing up her claim on.
I don’t want to post images of repainted Windstones here, but I know some of you still want to see them when I do ’em so you’ll have to sign on to my forum for it: http://www.watergazersden.com/node/32917#comment-401183 and there’s also a tattoo image that someone got from my wereprint design which is pretty sweet. Boy I hope Melody puts out a flap cat PYO soon. Any word on the Muse?
I have news. I was again contacted by the person who won the auction the first time around, and she says (and I hope she doesn’t mind me reposting this but I think everyone here ought to know what’s going on with this seller):
“I received the wolf in the mail today. It is a windstone piece and it looks like she did try to copy your color scheme – but did a VERY POOR job. I have never painted in my life and this is what I’d expect one of my wolves to look like if I’d had attempted it 🙂 It looks like she had painted the whole thing brown and then tried to repaint over it to look like yours, but the lines are so crudley painted that some spots she missed and you can see the brown underneath. The part of the wing where the interferance paint would be is a light blue metallic type – but it was either put on so thickly or repainted so many times that you can barely tell there are feathers underneath. And to top it all off, this wolf has brown eyes, not the yellow ones that are in your photo!
“At any rate, I have sent her an email thru ebay notifying her that the wolf that she had sent me is clearly not the wolf pictured in her auction and that I am unhappy with the paint job on the one I received. I’ve asked her to refund my money thru paypal and I would ship the wolf back to her. I’m trying to not be too confrontational to her as I’m hoping that she’ll just agree to a refund and call it a day. However if she doesn’t refund my money I’ll file a formal dispute thru Paypal.”
I feel bad about the whole thing myself, even though this isn’t really my fault. I hope that seller doesn’t try this again with someone else’s artwork and hopefully she will be wary. I’m also hoping the buyer will join the Windstone forum.
I am still having issues with the porno bombers. Even though I have it set so that I must approve registrants I see they are still getting through somehow. I don’t get it. I also have to go into my memberslist and delete out about 200 useres who are all spambots. When I came back after being away this weekend I literally had to delete well over 50 porn listings from all over my forum.
I don’t see where feedback was left though. I checked but must be missing it. She said she would leave negative feedback on the auction if she did not get that exact same wolf.
Sorry I’ve been away from the forum a while. I’ve been having a lot of trouble with my own forum and spammers, and have been largely involved with working on the Werewolf Anatomy book project so it will be done in time for Midwest FurFest con in November. That, and I finally got a new children’s book project and have a couple repainting Windstone repaints to do for folks.
In other news I said I’d update you all with the koi tattoo. Well, for some reason even though I was dead-set with getting a koi, the wolf in me just wanted something wolfish…especially since most wolf tatts you see are kinda lame looking. So, I came up with this design (which will be altered a little from this since it’s got too much stuff goin’ on): http://www.watergazersden.com/node/33550 You’ll only be able to see this if you’re registered to my forum. If you are not registered though, because of the spam things I’ve been dealing with in huge amounts, I must approve all registered useres so it may take a little bit.
Anyway I’ve been keeping busy!
I also contacted the buyer of the first time this seller sold off the wolf, and just got a reply. She said she hadn’t gotten the wolf yet and when she does she’ll compare the two because she was under the impression that THAT was the wolf she was going to be getting. She was familiar with my work but not my name, and she jumped at the chance to own this one. I gave her my Windstone gallery link. We’ll see what happens if and when she gets said wolf.
Sure will.
I contacted the buyer of the former auction as well, just to let them know that that wolf in the photo was painted by me. I hope this doesn’t happen again to anybody.
I wonder how good her paint jobs are…since she won
t use one of her own to take a photo of. Whoever buys from her will expect the quality seen in the photo. It is irksome, especially when she says it’s her paint job specifically. -
