Just a commission I finished up with tonight…the golden eagle/african lion combo.

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/46759413/Having my paint jobs up and showing isn’t a bad thing, you’re right. Extra publicity for me would be great.
I am letting her know though, to make sure to make it quite clear they are not her paint jobs. She didn’t post photos of Melody’s unpainted PYOs because of copyright issues she didn’t want to infringe on.
I told her she could go to my DA site and check out my images of PYOs to get samples of what I’ve done with my work (as in to see my work), but somehow she thought I meant she could use them for samples in her auctions, so that’s probably where the mix-up came and I think it would hurt her more now to remove them.
She does have painting skill though, and a few folks I spoke to said her work was awesome, so when she paints her own they should be a decent quality. There was a little bit of a misunderstanding I think, about photo useage, and I got a little shock when I saw them posted up there at first but I did contact her on it and told her now to spell out my name in full to MAKE SURE people know they are my own paint jobs and not her own, and these are just samples. Taking the photos down at this point would probably damage the auction’s chances of a bid, which started this whole thing anyway since I had contacted her to tell her that she did indeed need photos to get her auctions seen, and I don’t want to hurt feelings. Then again, a bidder may get angry if they pay for a job that has my level of detail and she doesn’t put that in. This is kinda a touchy situation. I always try to help out other artists though I do agree it’s not really a good thing to show someone else’s paint jobs.
If you ask me, Akeyla, you sell yourself short on those cards. As a fellow artist I can roughly estimate the time you put in, and $5 each card is…well, I just hope you don’t have to sell for that rate. I am looking forward to seeing you do more cards and, if you do prints, I definately want to buy more from you. I also make prints, so if you want to swap prints, just let me know.
Oh yeah…and here’s some ideas I’d love to see you do in your style…a foo dog and a koi. That would be sweet…and also your version of the Tsavo lions…the ghost and the darkness as a 2 card pair.

But check out Akeylas:

That’s amazingly awesome! You need to make some ATC cards. Also, I thought ebay had a ban on selling “life” on Ebay…or anything alive as an auction.
Thanks! I’ll be sure to keep adding the stripes!
Yes, this one I did specifically for EBay in case I couldn’t part with the Lucky Flame KiRin…which inevitably has happened but I am trying to let go. I do find it harder and harder, and sometimes if I can post it to ebay the day I finish I can let go easier…but if I wait I just get too attached. Good thing I was painting them both at the same time so I could at least sell one. Lol, I do want to paint a matching dragon for the Ki-Rin but not sure yet how to add the black and white look to the dragon. As for stripes…I have always loved dragon wings with striped patterns and will probably do that to most all of my PYO dragons.
Yep, straw eyes.
The matching dragonling to the autumn wolf piece I had recently done. I’m pleased with how this turned out, but I do prefer rusty browns and tans myself.

I’m close to being done with it…maybe by tonight or tomorrow. It’s tough because I have so much else to do and I started a red dragon to match the KiRin too.
That IS a cute picture! Nam, you have to make that into art of some kind…like a little ACEO of it holding a quill pen…”what shall I write” look, hah. If I wasn’t allergic to bird dander I’d definately have a parrot. Unfortunately I found out when I owned parakeets that I was highly allergic to them. I’ve since gotten worse and now can’t paint on turkey feathers anymore. 🙁
Awesome, can’t wait to see it! I’m working on a full set of 5 PYOs for Spark that all match too and it’ll be awesome to see us all start making little color co-ordinated sets!
All links appear to be working, but DA can be touchy at times so check again if you haven’t seen them yet.
Also, I love the KiRin design itself. There is so much you can do with it. Simply coloring the mane well and leaving white scales with antique to make them pop is enough to make a killer piece alone, which it was a tough call for me to go with the red, since I hadn’t used the red before and I read a lot in the forums about color issues with getting a true red. Luckily I did have a test model I blotted before I added red to the Ki-Rin, but I’m glad I opted to use the red. I also have to say that a koi Ki-Rin with red and white scales would have rocked also.
This was my only freebie Ki-Rin I ordered to work with and now I think I may have to get more. I bought more dragons and wolves this time around…might need to paint a red flame dragon to match this. I like making matching items! I am working on an autumn dragon right now to match the prior winged wolf I did. I definately say we all need to do more Ki-Rins though!
This is the same KiRin before I attempted the red, because I wasn’t sure if the red would turn out true red at the time and knew it was a risk…but I am happy I added it, but also liked this stage too.
