Sorry for the new thread, I just can’t seem to find my old thread. In the last year I hadn’t had much desire to paint anything, now that things have settled down and most everything is now looked after (so much to do when dealing with an estate) I’ve turned back to painting.

and today… I’m finally happy with how the wings are looking, several layers of interference red oxide, and interference green it looks amazing especially in the sun… I am not happy with the pin feathers yet and will continue to work on them and I’m not yet decided what I’m doing with the white feathers
Just wanted everyone to know. Mom passed away on December 30th at 10:40am.
It wasn’t her heart that got her. She ended up with blood poisoning. Thank you all so much for all of your prayers and healing thoughts. Now, she’s in a better place with no pain.It hasn’t honestly hit me just yet, I’m blissfully numb as we make arraignments and get everything in order. I know when I get to the viewing it’ll probably hit me hard.

You know, I don’t really know… but, she’s always had low blood pressure.

Ah thank you, I think that’s the one I was thinking of… it’s been so long since I’ve seen it. So, no the background is nothing alike. Good to know. (Just for some reason it made me think I’ve seen it before…)

Hi everyone. It seems like I only stop by when I have bad news. Well, this time is no different. I know some of you know already about what is happening with my mom. I was giving updates with my sale thread. To be fair it’s not the place for it. So here are the updates and for those who missed the drama, the beginning of this tale. At least the most recent part of the tale.
On Monday Sept. 14th my Mom went into emerg. She had horrendously low blood pressure. (When I found out what the blood pressure reading was, man I couldn’t believe that she was even alive) While she was in emerg she went into cardiac arrest. (Not a heart attack, this is where the heart just stops) They managed to revive her and she was on life support until Saturday. (She could have slipped away then but, if that had happened at least it would have happened in her sleep) She’s a fighter for sure, stubborn and tenacious.
Today good news she’s out of the hospital. But, she needs 24 hour health care. The doctors meeting that I couldn’t go to was about the fact that she should be in Freeport hospital. That’s where they send people that have no hope of living. Mom knows that too and she would probably give up if she ended up there. Dad will care for her for now. She’ll have a nurse every morning to help her with a shower and probably one at night. Dad will otherwise be caring for her.
When that gets to be too much then she’s to be transferred to Freeport, if they have a bed available.
So, no big news. She’s been in declining health since last year. But, it’s still hard. She’s only 64 years old. At least she will no longer have to hear about double amputation. (Why they kept bringing that up, I have no clue, she can’t have even a minor surgery. So telling her this in my mind was just cruel.)
I have an update, but I should stop using this sale thread for it. So, I’ll start one in the general forum.
Hi DM, I’m sure everyone is interested in how my mom is doing. Thank you for asking.
It’s a day to day thing. We are not sure what to expect or what will happen. This wed. we have a meeting with the doctor to discus some things. What, I haven’t been told. She is dying….? But, how long it’ll take is a mystery. She might last for a few years yet. I’m not sure how blunt or graphic to get. If you’d like specifics then feel free to poke me.
At this point she’s still in the hospital. Her blood pressure while low for most people is around normal for her. So, that’s good. Her leg is healing up (no more talk of amputation yay! at least not over the wound that wouldn’t heal) She has a bad habit of waking up at 3:00 am and being chatty or in one case walking around. One night they went to give her something (meds) and she wasn’t in bed. They found her wandering around looking for the shower. Then she tried to get out of bed again that same night. This time she fell. She’s not sure if she hurt herself or not in that fall (except for bruises) she’s lucky for sure. I have a sneaky suspicion that this meeting with the doctor is either about nursing care (nursing home probably) or about taking her off of her meds and leaving her in peace. We had a similar conversation with the doctors in the spring (about the meds at least). (We almost lost her then as well) In fact I think she was worse in the spring even though she wasn’t placed in ICU.
I feel bad since I haven’t visited her in awhile, I’ll be heading over today to visit. Even though I have a mile long to do list. I’ve been busy with a voluntary job online. I was accepted for it on Monday and I’ve been trying to help out with that and regular work. I’ve been too busy to visit. (Shame on me) I don’t know if she’ll remember what the date is tomorrow. But, tomorrow is the birthday of her mother. (While we don’t wish Grandma back we still get depressed over her birthday) Plus Tuesday is the anniversary of her brothers death…. (I hope she won’t remember!)

Sorry, guys that I haven’t gotten back to anyone yet today. I’m sending PMs and emails out now. If I miss you feel free to PM me. I’ve spent the day at work then at the hospital. They’ve taken Mom off of all of the medication that kept her blood pressure up and her heart beat regulated. She may not make it, but I have faith in her. I’ve come home to shoot off some emails and to get something to eat. I’ll be heading back to the hospital soon.
