Red Bean and Green tea ice cream are also quite yummy when served in mochi– one of the best ways to end a meal 🙂

you’re not allowed to draw the dragons?

    Its copying. 🙂

Its very well done but too bad they didnt draw their own stuff.

    oops…

is it not copying if I put like Windstone somewhere on it?

I drew a picture of the scratcher for my art class. We were supposed to bring an item to class that meant something to us and draw it, so I brought him in and drew him. He’s hanging on my wall.

As long as you don’t try to sell it, or display it publically as your own invention, why would anyone care? If it is on your wall, just for your enjoyment, you’re not removing any profit from Windstone, and if it is never seen outside your own wall, I’m not sure how it infringes on their trade dress or however it is spelled. 😀

To answer the size qustion, here is a picture with some of them in front of my beanie baby dragons.
(These two are protypes, hence not as neat looking.)

My pair of these arrived yesterday and they are even cuter live than in the pictures!

Lovely work on them– I’d love bunches; whomever thought them up was a genius. 🙂

in reply to: How to ship Windstones 101 #682504

I understand most like to keep the boxes, but like others, I just didn’t have the room to keep mine. Oddly, in my move last year from NYC to Southern Cal, the ONLY Windstone that took damage was the one *in* his box– an older peacock youngster who chipped both his horns and one wing.

My lap, my male dragon, all the other youngsters who were bubblewrapped rather than boxed, even the KiRin male who was stuffed (no clue how this happened; must have been the one day my neighbor ‘helped’ pack) into a box, surrounded by balled up newspaper came out fine in a trip via *freight train* as that was how we had to ship things.

So I’m thinking even with original boxes it is a “your mileage may vary” when moving.

Then again, I rip off tags, and toss packing materials the second I get my new sparklies. 😉

The question of colored sculptures comes up every so often and I like to revisit that possibility. Most of all I love to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

Many of my sculptures express themselves through their shadows. With a white material I have therefore the strongest contrast. We have tried with colors and had to realize that many of the pieces lose their strength. We also tried black. It looks great; very elegant. We do have black journey stones for sale.

For now we decided against coloring, but I know it will be considered again and I expect the day of artistically colored and painted “Forms of the Feminine Spirit” is not that far away.

I could see a sculpture like “the rainbow light meditation” in great colors. I would not want to fake a real stone or bronze. Do you have any ideas of a colored sculpture you would like to see?

I would so very much like to see the ‘healing’ stone in shades of deep blue… and, for some odd reason, in my mdeitations lately, I’ve seen ‘balance’ in shades of rich rose. If that came out in that color, I’d feel a need to add her to my altar.

    Blessings for all you do-

You’re right about that. She doesn’t even take care of herself half the time. She makes my father drive her everywhere cause she refuses to (though she does have a licence). But yeah, our cats are horrible, not trained at all. I wouldn’t know how to even attempt to train them. They don’t listen to a word anyone says, and treats don’t work at all. They just do what they want…

I’d start with getting a small water bottle with a spray nozzle. Saying ‘no’ in a calm, yet firm voice when they do something wrong, followed by a quick squirt of water will make even an untrained cat pause, and if you continue to be gentle, yet firm about it, will stop most destructive behavior. 🙂

I’ve had many cats over the years, and they know to not play or walk in and out where the “sparklies” are by us simple telling them NO from day one.

I’d also make sure they have some place where they CAN play, claw and scamper– cats enjoy doing just that, and it is always a good thing to give them a “good” place to play with one another. 😀

    Hope this helps!

in reply to: Ok, who's making me pay a fortune on the broken sun dragon? #638171

In a way, I can understand Kyrin. The day I first found this forum, I also found the gallery page with all the rare and OOAK Windstones, and that day, my heart was lost, forever and ever, to the black and tan family.. in particular the male. THAT was the dragon of my dreams. I cannot TELL you how much I wanted that dragon, and seeing that it WAS the only one left, and prolly would never see auction honestly crushed me. To this day, I think I would KILL for that dragon… well, almost. 😀

When the family went to auction a few months back I lost my mind. I bid once… then again.. and THEN broke into my small retirement fund and took ALL I could and made the very largest bid I could possibly make.

Guess what? I still lost. And there will NEVER be another black and tan male– NEVER. Melody has said so.

And it was another forum member who did get the family.

Was I upset? Um, YEAH. See, Kirin, you might eventually get another sun dragon. I will never get a black and tan male. I think when I lost, I cried.

But then it hit me. I had put the very HIGHEST bid I could on that set, and hey, someone else bid more– did it mean I wanted it less, nope; we prolly wanted it the same. But they had more money to bid on it.

I congratulated the winner in the thread about the dragons, and meant it — I knew that person would give the family a wonderful home and love them as much as I would have. I had made the highest bid I could, so did they, and it happened they won. That’s life on eBay. 🙂

I know it hurts now, and I know you wanted that sun dragon, but when the time is right, you’ll get the sun dragon, trust me. The dragon for you is out there and you’ll get it. No, I’m not pollyanna– there are a LOT of them out there and so one will pop up eventually for you. Just don’t make your hurt at the loss make the person who won their dragon feel guilty.

It could be that person never saw this thread… or thought you meant another sun dragon — hell, there was no link. And I know I sometimes late night browse eBay and bid on things and NEVER NOTICE THE NAME OF THE HIGH BIDDER! All I see is the price and item…

I think what I’m saying is that while you might hurt, don’t make your envy turn into bad feelings for that person. They deserve the right to enjoy their purchase just as you would have, and you don’t want to lose what you yourself term a friend over a single purchase.

in reply to: Direct buying from The Company Store;..ponder , ponder. #637766

I see this from an entirely different angle. I’m unable to get out of the house much; in all honesty it hurts to do so, and I am loathe to hurt.

I have, in the past, dealt with ‘real’ stores, and have (and will again) ordered online from dealers, but I’ll be honest– living so close to the Windstone factory means I get an order a day or so after I order it, and I rather like that. No delay in gratification.

Add in the customer service I get — the last piece I got from a “real” store was a flion. When I got home, I noticed it had a chip out of a wing, in the back I had not noticed at the store. When I returned to the store, I was treated as if I had gone home, chipped it myself, and then tried to come back and rip off the store. Compare that to my recent problem with a Windstone order — not only did I get a really wonderful apology (that I said wan’t necessary, as crap happens -g-) but I got a replacement and return help.

Personally, I *like* that Melody and company realized that some of us CANNOT get out, and offer many of the same products without a huge extra fee. I’m sorry that whatever shop the orignal poster made is not having a huge success, and have no idea why people living nearby it would choose not to purchase their windstones THERE and instead choose to pay extra for postage, and the wait for shipping. If it was internet only, I’m not sure why having Windstone sell online is a detriment — personally I shop online from those places that will get me my stuff fastest.

I’m loyal to good service, occasional deals, and fasy delivery. Most people I know who buy luxury items (this means anything you do not NEED -g-) online keep their loyalty the same way; we all have limited budgets, and want the most we can get for the dollar. Having the level field where Windstone sells for the same as a another online dealer means the buyer gets to find the place that best suits THEM and spend accordingly. It’s part of the whole capitalism thing. 😉

If you are doing lps of the silver any chance you would do some with red and some with blue (or lavender?) Red is my least favorite eye color. Just a small squeek…

Oh, yes, please! Anything but red eyes… add my voice to the squeak for that. 🙂

I just tried all different eyes in the silvers. I think red looks best.. never would of guessed. But the blue looks ok too.. not green. Lavender looks ok, but really isn’t very impressive. I think if we will do Silver dragons, we will do them as lps, not production.

    awww, not red eyes…

darn, that leaves me out of the running… for some reason I really cannot STAND the red eye color.
