😯 Sounds interesting, link link!
There you guys go. As a fan for years, it was really great to get a personally signed autograph from this writer. He is the second one I’ve gotten one from.
Got to meet Alan Dean Foster in person, and talk to him by myself for about 20 mins, it was great. It pays to be a dealer in the dealer’s room when the GOH is someone you really want to meet. *grin*

‘Butterfly, have you seen others like me?’
…They passed down all the roads long ago and the red bull followed close behind them and covered their footprints…..
Sorry, it had to be done 😆
You can find the other unicorns if you are brave…
BTW, anyone interested in getting the newly released Last Unicorn, personally signed by Peter Beagle?
I can post the link, takes a few weeks to get to ya, but it’s worth it.

I’m guilty…
Let’s see…5 PYOs, a damaged male dragon, a brown male, mother, young and depending on what is going on with the seller, a hatching.
I also nabbed the jade oriental and flion.
We also bought a water pressure tank for the well, a new water heater and about $150 in new books from the bookstore.
Total spent is roughly $1750 or so…eeek!
And yes, that was our tax return and then some.
And we’re not done…we’ll be getting a playhouse for our kids and a new car to replace my car that died in Jan, next weekend.
Only upside is that most of the money spent is not on credit.

The last three are definately recast windstones. The first two are not, though they are similar poses, but very different dragons. Crappy, ugly ones, but still different.
The last three are definately stolen in their entirety. All you have to do is take a look at any of the young dragons and compare, pose is identical, scales are identical, someone copied a Windstone, no doubt on that.
These are the kinds of folks John and his lawyers need to go after.

Yay! I still think he should have to give up the Playstation though.
He owes you more Windstones once you guys are resettled.
You should like SLO, hope you get a chance to see some of the places I told you about on my old stomping ground. Oh, and get a map of SLO, the one way street set up is a royal pain in the tail. You’ll get used to it, but it’ll take a little while.

Greater Basilisk wrote:I think he’s lovely. I must admit he looked very close to black gold, but that could be my red-flecked monitor. The blue spots are prominent, though, so you should be okay.
Actually if you put them side by side, mine is very very different. Especially since mine is actually a copper color and not red, and there is very little yellow on him, whereas the WS Black Gold has lots of golds and yellows.
I thought about that when I started, but as the painting progressed, it stopped resembling anything factory pretty quick. I wasn’t after doing anything like theirs anyway. 🙂
I just wanted a black dragon that stood out.
Kyrin
Just a little unrealistic..you can get that color from WS direct for only $230.
Nutjob!

Thanks guys, had some friends visiting from out of state this weekend and one suggested the blue…so I tried it for looks, and he was right. It really brought out his eyes.
He also had the suggestion of outlining the leg scales, though I had been considering it anyway. But with the body being black, the front legs were kinda faded into the background until I did.
Not sure if you can see from the pic, but the chest scales have light gold bands going through them. And I made the horns and claws more of a bone color, since making them gold would have kinda faded them back, considering his base color and the shade of gold I have available.
This one took me days to do, I probably put in about 20 hours on this, but the results were worth it.
If my friend doesn’t like him, I figure I will just ask for him back. 😆 Somehow I don’t think my friend is going to take me up on that offer.
Anyway, I’m glad you guys like him. I am thinking of doing my little PYO dragon sitting here to match and then perhaps putting him up on eBay. What do you guys think, think he would do well?

..April 23, 2007 at 12:55 am in reply to: new purchase , price question, restoration in progress photo #565459Definately repainted poorly, I hope you can get the gold stuff off without losing the paint under it.
I’ve found that if I don’t clear coat, it is possible to rub paint off of using a bamboo skewer…just blunt the tip and set to rubbing with it gently. I usually use it to get paint off of eyes and stones when I get clumsy, but it does work and doesn’t hurt anything underneath, now mind that you need to only use enough pressure to get the paint layer you are after off.
I’d consider nail polish remover, but you’d be risking the original paint under it, so I don’t think that would be a good idea.
Good luck repairing it.
Kyrin
Yeah, once I get mine, it’ll be posted in a matter of minutes. LOL!
Kyrin
Yay, three done! Now, if only folks would post that they got theirs. It’s driving me nuts, the waiting!
Kyrin
I’m hoping to find a few more damaged Windstones I can experiment with. It was a fun challenge to paint this guy. Brush painting one of these is tough, so many nooks and crannies. I wish I had my airbrush all set up, but I still don’t really know how to use it.
Guess I should figure it out one of these days.
Kyrin
Well guys,
Here is the damaged dragon that came from Watergazer, she repaired him and I repainted him.
He was originally a Peacock, I think…anyway he had been damaged and Watergazer repaired him, then sold him to me.
This guy is going to be a gift for a dear friend of mine.
Comments welcome.
Here he is: (Due to a rather unpleasant message from John, this image will no longer be available.)
I will ask if he objects to me sharing it with folks privately through PMs or something.

The final price was $1962.78.
Ouch! Worth it, but oh that puts a serious dent in your pocket.
Glad you won him and are happy.
I might be willing to go that high for a ALSK, but not much else.
Kyrin
Congrats, what was the final price? I missed the end of the auction and forgot to watch him, so I’m in the dark. Last price I saw was $1525 or thereabouts.
