Thanks guys! I really love how he turned out, just wish he would fit into my curio cabinets, but alas he is too tall.

Sweet!! I really like him. Wasn’t sure what I thought of the yellow on the preview pic, but there’s enough antiquing to break it up a bit. And I LOVE the copper wings. Very nice. I want a Sun Emp now…

The wings are actually a progression from top to bottom of gold, copper and the orange I made for the chest and back scales. Once they were antiqued though the gradient kinda blended and now looks like one color in the pics.

I will take some front and rear views tomorrow, this was just a quickie snapshot, since I finishd him tonight and really wanted to show you guys.

The antiquing really brought him all together, I have to admit I really like antiquing. I wasn’t too sure about the yellow in the beginning either, but I had hoped the antiquing would tone it down and it did.

I also suggest giving up on making this one perlino, she looks really good as is, so just try to lighten up those areas you are unhappy with, and just let her be, this uni obviously doesn’t want to be a perlino.

I like her though, I think with a few details she would be good to go just as she is.

Okay, here he is, all done.

Overall I really like how he turned out.

Took me forever, but I have to say it was worth the time, sorry to those who liked him best emerald, but I think he is happy all the same.

    Comments welcome.

Banning breeds never works. People will just move on to another breed.

True, last breed banned that I know of was the Doberman, we see very few of them now. Pit Bills were the replacement. Wonder what breed will be next?

Personally most of the pits I have known have been sweethearts.

The ones that are problem dogs are usually the ones trained to be mean, either to guard or to fight in the pits. It also doesn’t help that the pit bulls trained to fight are often let loose to become feral when they lose once too often. Since they already hate and fear humans, but know our behavior, having them running in feral packs is bad news.

The only time I have been seriously bitten and needed stitches, the dog responsible was a golden retriever, and I had petted her many times before that day. She also gave no warning whatsoever, just snapped at my face unexpectedly when I leaned down to pet her as I always did. We still don’t know why she did that, she had never been hostile towards me before.

Since her owners hadn’t kept her rabies up to date, she ended up quarantined for a few weeks. But it all worked out, and I don’t even have a visible scar…lucked out since she got my lip.

Anyway, banning breeds is just a waste of time, but it makes people think that the authorities are “doing something” about the “problem”. So that’s why they are banning these breeds.

So far I believe that Canada, and several of the states have jumped on the “ban the pit bull” bandwagon, I know for sure that Iowa has, not sure which other states have.

It has been my experience that poodles and other small breeds are the most likely to snap or bite.

So you have a point, our chihuahua has bitten strangers more than once, but because she is so small, the person pitten just brushed it off as no biggie. I think the main reason they don’t make headlines is because while they may injury someone, they don’t have the size to do the kind of damage the larger breeds do.

I vote for Melody to do an Anne McCaffery firelizard.

That would be awesome, especially if it were sized at life-size based on the descrips in the stories.

I love that kirin! 😀 And yes, come to the ren faire! The more the merrier! 😆

I miss that Faire! *pout* I was in the Peasant Guild for the SLO Faire, so it used to be home ground.

We were a singing guild, so I still remember all my songs…but I miss the group, too bad it was disintergrating just about when we moved here. But no group can really have two leaders, it just doesn’t work.

As for the kirin, I think it is awesome, what a cool idea! I love it!

Sheesh! Glad you are okay. Shirts are replaceable, you aren’t, so hopefully the GF isn’t too bent about the shirts.

Not good that you hurt yourself so badly, but I am glad you will be okay.

I worked for a vet for 2.5 years, in that time I had two male cats brought in with the symptoms described, they died in my arms while we were trying to save them.

I am not just shooting out my butt here, UTI blockages are life threatening and if you wait until the cat is toxic, your chances hit rock bottom quick.

Way I see it, alarmist is definately in Tristin’s best interest…if I am wrong and I pray I am, then it won’t hurt anything, but if I am right, then the sooner he gets care the better his chances, and I really feel that waiting will be detrimental.

I’m a certified vet tech with four years experience, I know the risks, thank you, but there’s no need to make TC feel horrible about an already bad situation.

She has an appointment with the vet tomorrow. It is the best that she can do right now. It could also be giardia, coccidia, kidney failure, IBS, poisoning, feline leukemia since he’s not vaccinated, FIP or any number of things. She would know if he was having trouble urinating/blocked because he would be in the box crying and trying to pee. Right now he’s probably not peeing at all because he’s dehydrated.

Once again, good luck TC. I wish your kitty the best.

    Rusti,

I was not trying to make TC feel worse, I was trying to impress how critical this could be, and that delaying treatment could mean the loss of her kitty.

I also entertained the possiblity of the feline leukemia, etc. The symptoms described sound like toxicity to me, so I looked at the most common cause in male cats. However, you are right, his symptoms could be many things.

I hope that waiting doesn’t affect his outcome, and that seeing the vet tomorrow will get some answers and help kitty recover from whatever it is. I would feel better if he had been able to see a vet today, but I understand the limitations with transport, etc.

I hope your vet bill isn’t too high.

TC, to answer your question earlier about surgery, depending on what is done, often same day return home is possible, depending on what drugs they used to knock the pet out and the procedure being done. Neutering for example is a 10 min procedure and the cat is usually just gassed, which the cat can burn out of his system in about 20 mins after awakening.

I did think of one other possible, he could have an intestinal blockage from a hairball, which would cause the vomiting and refusal to eat. Is he a long haired cat?

Trust me, when he is done he will look wonderful, maybe not as good as new, but good enough for me.

Wait, if you don’t like emeralds in the first place, why’d you buy him? Perhaps I am missing a key element here. 😆 Did you buy him broken? I hope you didn’t pay full price if that’s the case. 😯

Yep, I bought him very broken…6 pieces worth of broken, and no I didn’t pay full price, but it was a bit more than half.

Hate to say it but I agree with Nam, I’d have opted to restore rather than repaint, if I were in your shoes. Just because it’s broken doesn’t mean it’s worthless. Several people were offering for this one, for example. I’d imagine that a good percentage of emeralds out there have at least some damage to them, given their age. Still, your color choices sound like good ones. It’ll be interesting to see how it turns out!

I agree that he isn’t worthless, but his value for being an emerald emperor went down the moment he was broken into 6 pieces. Sure I could have restored him to original color, that wouldn’t have been hard, however, as I stated before, I don’t like the emerald color scheme. He would not have fit into my collection as an emerald, and I could never afford the $400 to get one otherwise.

I collect the browns. When he is done his colors will be a close cousin, though considerably brighter than my browns, but he will still “go” with them. Whereas restoring him to original would have left him odd man out.
