Does anyone here read Guy Gavriel Kay? I just finished Ysabel. It was great! I’m just glad I had reread the Fionavar Tapestry this winter.

His style is very peculiar; he doesn’t hesitate to kill characters and is a master of the coup-de-théâtre. He bases his fantasy worlds on historical cultures, like the Jewish, ancient Rome, parts of Italy, the Vikings, etc.

Amongst his best (as per me 🙂 ) are The Lions of Al-Rassan, the Sarantine Mosaic (Sailing to Sarantium and The Lord of Emperors), as well as the Fionavar Tapestry (3 novels, I have an omnibus, so I don’t remember the titles).

          I highly recommend his books.
