Sorry anonymous sculptor of this piece, but if you’re going to sculpt the cheek feathers that way, it’s going to be obvious where you got your *cough*inspiration*cough*cough* from. It was a distinctive style even among all the other Windstone griffins.Meh. XP
EDIT: I hate BBCode.
EDIT 2: URG. Nevermind. I’ll just let it stretch out the page.

October 31, 2007 at 1:37 pm #632413U-G-L-Y…Yuck. 😛 And not to mention, unfair. Nice spot though! 😀
November 10, 2007 at 5:05 pm #632414I do not know if these were spotted already, so i sent john an email any ways:
November 10, 2007 at 5:48 pm #632415I see lots of rip offs in the UK and a few on ebay but should i mention them to John? Our laws are not as great as your in this respect so there is nothing to stop someone copying a concept.
November 10, 2007 at 6:04 pm #632416It can’t hurt Griffiness.
November 10, 2007 at 6:28 pm #632417I sent that griffin one to John not to long ago.
November 10, 2007 at 7:02 pm #632418Woof! Those are some pretty tasteless “copies”… it wouldn’t be so bad if there were not damn near in the same pose. The wings are different and so is the head a little BUT yek! 😕
November 12, 2007 at 6:52 am #632419We haven’t seen those in a while.
November 13, 2007 at 12:13 am #632420Inspired by the roaring sentinel and hyena gargoyles, perhaps?

I agree on the second one more than I do the first one.
November 13, 2007 at 12:18 am #632422Seeing stuff like that makes a person realize how good Melody really is.

The way the front feet are placed, and how he’s standing on a leafy looking thing, are taken directly from the roaring sentinel…among other things.

-J R R TolkienNovember 13, 2007 at 12:37 am #632424Yeah, that was something good to laugh at…The first batch had fledgie-like heads and the body stiles of the adults. The second well, the first one, maybe, but the second one, blatent. Sheesh! I don’t know if I would be flattered that someone wanted to copy me, or horrified as to how badly they represented my works if I was Melody. 😛
