There is something really great about the pattern on the scales. WOW! And I second that he looks much better with lavender eyes
November 29, 2010 at 9:04 pm #829969Love it!
Call me crazy 😳 , but I actually prefer the brown eyes. They seem truer to his namesake.November 30, 2010 at 12:16 am #829970purpleturtle wrote:Love it!

The brown eyes offer more contrast, and they definitely go with the Falkor theme better. However, I will be selling this guy so whatever the customer wants goes! 😀

🙂 Well I’m glad that you like him! I was looking at him today, and I think his pattern – tweaked just a little – could almost resemble a scaly plaid 😆 I actually have 2 more Kirins in “stock” right now, and I have eyes in Metallic Teal and Grey. If you (or anyone else) are interested in a similar piece in a different color I’d be totally up for doing something! Shoot me a message if you’re interested 😀

December 3, 2010 at 12:15 am #829973Finally got this guy done – I was waiting for almost a week for Green Interference 😀
He photographed as almost a hot pink – he’s more salmon colored in person. I’m pretty happy with the way he turned out. He has a light coat of green interference on some of his scales, gold interference on his belly, legs, around his eyes and snout, and on a few strands of his mane and tail. He has Gold hoofs and has a little bit of sparkle on his mane and tail. I antiqued just his fuzzy parts with deep purple. I probably should have done it a little bit lighter, but I’m still happy with the way he came out.
He is currently on hold until a member decides if she wants to buy him or not, but either way he will definitely be getting sold. I have not glued in eyes yet so the choice is between light brown and lavender. I personally love the dough-eyed look so I like the light brown, but so far the consensus has been that the lavender looks better 🙂
I tried to get a picture of the green interference on his scales – you can see it a bit, but not terribly well. As always, interference doesn’t seem to photograph that great. I was concerned that it wouldn’t look good on the pink scales but I like the way it turned out – definitely only visible when viewed in the right light.

December 3, 2010 at 4:36 am #829975He looks so juicy (like some kind of awesome fruit) and fluffy at the same time! And actually, in that lighting, he does look good with the brown eyes. I LOVE the way you painted him! (funny to call a pink thing “him” but ah well!)

😆 thanks guys! Yeah I was actually thinking the same thing about calling him a him when I was adding the sparkle to his mane and tail. I won’t lie, I giggled a little 😀

December 3, 2010 at 9:39 pm #829978Thanks everyone 😀
I removed the majority of the brown eyed pictures because he has been sold and officially has lavender eyes now! I have also decided to make him OOAK. I won’t be painting another one exactly like him again! I do like the way his scales turned out so I may take that idea and run with it though 🙂

She has lots of interference on her done in light coats, she has metallic periwinkle eyes (thanks to Susie for sending me a smaller set!!), an Amethyst colored crystal in her forehead, and a multicolored swarovski crystal nestled in her tail coil. Her scales are interferenced in patterns of Blue and Violet Golden Interference, and her dorsal ridge is interferenced in Blue and green. Her wings also have a touch of blue and green interference. Of course, it was very hard to photograph – she is much prettier in person. I did try to take pictures of her in different lights so as to capture her as honestly as was possible. Personally I think the images of her with a light background do her the most justice.
Haze has been sold, but was numbered #1 – if you are interested in a Dragon or a Keeper in this same color scheme please don’t hesitate to send me a PM!
