Please visit My Webpage to see my art and PYO's that I've done in the past!November 6, 2010 at 2:58 am #829907OK so since I saw a few other people who are new at PYO’s doing awesome jobs with antiquing, I decided to give it a go myself 🙂
I was really scared to do it to my first little guy, who I named Gilded Sky, but I read the advice that has been given previously (like, not trying to antique until after the topcoat is on – which was actually very helpful! Made it so much easier to wipe off ‘mistakes’) and I did it. The only place that I didn’t really antique was his inside wings (could you call them membranes? That sounds kinda icky and they’re so NOT icky!), I tried it but the grooves were so shallow that it ended up looking strange and almost dirty, so I decided to skip it 🙂
I have posted one “before” pic just for reference. I am quite happy with him 😀 I’ve decided once and for all that I will be keeping this one since he is my official first one, but I simply cannot wait to try more PYOs in the future 🙂Before:

November 6, 2010 at 3:59 am #829910That’s completely awesome! It brings out soo much more detail and depth. Looks like you did a wonderful job, and I will ALWAYS do 1 clear coat before antiquing. I found that the inside of the legs were most difficult because there wasn’t any depth. I want to start on my next one soon.
It’s good to see some other noobs No offense at all, I think it’s great! like myself succeeding so well. Keep it up!November 6, 2010 at 4:18 am #829911sagiaparri wrote:I found that the inside of the legs were most difficult because there wasn’t any depth. I want to start on my next one soon.

No offense taken at all Sagi, it’s much more a compliment 🙂 I found the same thing too – I was going to take pictures and ask if anyone else had any trouble with the inside of the legs but I figured I didn’t need any more pictures of him XD It’s good to know that I’m not the only one who struggled with that though! I figured that it’s one of the least noticeable areas on the dragon anyway so it wouldn’t really matter much in the long run.

November 6, 2010 at 11:56 am #829915Wow, what an improvement! 😀 (someyear I’ll have to find the courage for antiquing as well)
November 6, 2010 at 4:04 pm #829916I hate antiquing, but boy, sometimes, it’s a necessary thing. In this case, it was really worth it!
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.
