I have to say when I first heard of this story I wondered if it was an “urban myth” or whatever they are calling them now. I guess I can’t believe that anybody would try to outlaw Ho Ho Ho.

And sometimes it is hard to know what is PC. I have a friend who is half white and half black and hates being called African American. She points out that her dad is from the islands and no one in her family has even seen Africa in several generations. So, at her own request I would refer to her as black (which, quite frankly doesn’t come up in conversation very often) and ended up getting a lecture from someone about my “insensitivity”. 😯 Sometimes you can’t win…

What irks me is many public (city hall, etc.) places around here are no longer allowed to put up a manger scene because it might upset other religions. That same city was allowed to put up a Menorah. This country was founded on christian principles what is wrong with people today. Also you are now supposed to say Happy Holiday instead of Merry Christmas because it can be offensive to some people – hell with them MERRY CHRISTMAS

I do not mean to be offensive to any members of the forum that are of a different color, religion etc. but these things have been an American tradition for many many years and remember one of the reasons our forfathers came to this continent was for freedom of religion and that still holds today. I think most people show respect to others except the the loud-mouths that get the most attention and cause the most trouble.

According to this report, the problem is merely that “Ho! Ho! Ho!”, when bellowed in the traditional jolly manner, scares the crap out of little kids.

As a former little kid, I can testify that having some red-faced bearded old geezer randomly yell at you as you walk into a department store is nightmare-producing stuff. And those darned Santas are almost as bad.But you turned out ok, right? I did. I dont think a scary Santa leaves lasting psycological problems.

Here’s a funny Santa story….my sister was always afraid of Santa’s beard!!! πŸ˜† She refused to go near him because she didn’t want his beard to touch her!!! πŸ™„ I don’t think she ever talked to Santa…..not even once!!! 😯

I know when I was little, I was afraid of sitting on Santa’s lap to get my pic taken with him. Just because of the way he looked… not so much because he said ho ho ho.

I think I was actually more terrified of the Easter Bunny though come to think of it. Though he was quiet… he had a big scary bunny head.

                    You’re so right, darjeb.

As for Santa, we go to the parades in town, and Dad adresses up for the benefit of Tom, who’s 6 or so – it’s a kid thing you grow out of and it doesn’t leave you psychologically damaged. πŸ™„

Yes, yes, we can discuss the imminent triumph of myself over fruity drinks…in Hawaii, maybe if we discuss it long enough we’ll forget all about the fighting and just enjoy the beach!

Well, send some warm air and some strawberry daiquiris (non-alcoholic please) up here. I’m freezing my butt off.
