OK, I do have a question for those with large collections… Since I’ve started collecting again (and making up for lost time), I’ve pretty much gone off the deep end. I’ve doubled my collection in less than three weeks (and in doing so, reduced my bank account severely!). 😮
Do you ever reach a comfortable spot where the urge to get more lets up any? At least a little? Not go away completely, but at least reach a point where you are not deciding if food is more important. LOL! 😈
One year I bought 42 new Windstones…Ebay is the DEBIL!!! LOL
Another year, I bought over 30. But I always make sure food is here first. I can’t say I always pay bills on time, but they do get paid eventually. 😳 But yes, once I began to run out of room for them on the 3 bookcases and 7’x7′ shelved entertainment center…Well, the urge to get a bit more choosey is there. I only collect 7 of each color in Dragons (Except rainbow, I only have Fledge and Curl in those, and that is all I plan to get.). Except, when and if the peacock curls come out, I will have to give up one of the older Peacocks. It will probably be my hatching royalty. I didn’t get a Kinglet, so I settled for a Hatching Emp…
There are only 2 colors I would go more pieces than 7 in, BEP (Only 3 pieces released in this color so far.) and Old Green (Which only has 7 pieces total! 🙂 ).BTW, I have 180-ish Windstones last count. (I remember when I only wanted 100…LOL Now it’s up over 200 and adding more at every new release! HAHAHA 😈 )
May 13, 2009 at 4:15 am #764126The lack of funds is also a factor. I have to admit that this past year and a half I have had several ‘lucky-breaks’ as far as finances were concerned. I officaly only started truly collecting about 18 months ago. My first peice was the circle of cats candle lamp I got several years ago, but I really got hooked when I purchased my first PYOs. Since then I have collected over 65 items, give or take a few (I keep losing count). That includes PYOs that I have kept for myself and it doesn’t include the stash if unpainted PYOs I have. I can’t complain – my hubby does from time to time, though 😆 . I still have several peices that want to get and since the purchase of our house, my buying has been curbed as bit. But I’m thanklful for the Windstones that I managed to get so far 😉 .

But most of my new acquisitions have been ebay pieces. I figure I may not have as many pieces as some of the other forum members but I have more unique pieces. Although since joining the forum my collection has grown considerably. You guys are a bad influence on me  😆 . Probably about half of it is ebay stuff by now.
Although my roommate did give me a lovely Silver lap for my birthday last year. She showed up at work and I was confused because I wasn’t expecting anything that day. So I went home opened her up and there was a lovely note telling happy B-day. I was so surprised. Very few of my collection have actually been gifts( which is odd because I l have loved Windstone dragons for most of my life. In my photo album for a trip to Disney I have four entire pages of Windstone dragon photos because they were so beautiful and I couldn’t afford them but I wanted to always be able to see them) And those I will never part with: My Peacock Scratcher, my Peacock Coiled Male, my Silver Lap, and my Bronze Griffin.
So I figure I buy less because what I buy is more expensive, that helps keep the pieces down for me. 🙂

May 13, 2009 at 11:17 pm #764130OK, after reading everyone’s posts, I’ve come to one conclusion…. I’m doomed. 😮 😈
There are certain pieces I want, but only if I get other certain pieces because… well, because some of them absolutely have to “match.” And in order to appease the OCD side of me, I can see myself willing to spend money to make that happen. And I have. Oh, my poor bank account! LOL!
I’m hoping, after this intial collecting withdrawal/catch-up thing is over, I will calm down. Here’s to hoping! 😆

Also, please be aware that it is fuzzy mating season… I’ve found several breeding pair in the toes of my slippers. What does Suzy, our resident fuzziologist have to say about this new behavior?

That Silver Lap is amazing. She is sitting out in the display case, Peacock and brown are currently in the closet while I work on their display case. I have a cat who LOVES Windstones. She thinks their kittens and rubs on them and grooms them, but my poor Scratcher will need to visit Kyrin on day to get his rubs and a few chips repaired. But I want a Brown Scratcher eventually, so I’m waiting until after I buy him then I’ll have a Scrathcer box. My Peacock’s box is long gone. It was damaged when the roof peaked when i lived in Florida.:D

A couple months ago I had told my mom that I was going to start collecting my Windstone dragons again. Well, one day she came to visit me at work, and it just so happened I received a Windstone package while she was there. She waited while I opened it, and as I pulled out the Grand Unicorn, she had a very confused look on her face and said, “That’s not a dragon…” o.O
My only sheepish response was,”But it’s also a Windstone… and it may be retired soon… and, and I like the Unicorns, too.” 😳 I promised her I would take pictures of my new dragons when they arrive and e-mail them to her. 😈
As you can see, the addiction is already in full swing. Bad, Ang! Bad! 🙄 *runs off to check ebay*
