Really? Cool! π What part of Houston (North, South etc.)? I’m in Northwest H-Town.
Secrets? Hmm. I used to collect My Little Ponies…and I have a whole room in my house wherein they dwell. The room was pink when we moved in…and I have a 4 foot tall teddy bear living on the bed. I also have my plastic toy riding horse (the kind with the springs on his legs) in there too from my childhood. He’s white and pink and purple and his name was/is Starlite. Ask GB, it’s kind of a sugary sweet overload….you’ll walk in and when you leave, you’ll never have an impure thought again! lol
I guess another big thing worth mentioning is this. June 10th I got in a head-on car wreck. It was a Sunday and a friend was supposed to come visit me at work and we were going to spend some time together after I got off work at 11pm. Well he never called never showed. I called him when I got off work…”Oh…I’ve been drinking. I can’t drive. Wanna come see me instead?” I was very irritated that he not only didn’t show up when he said he would, but CHOSE to drink enough to impair himself. π He doesn’t drink often (certainly not half as much as my ex :D) and I had my mind set on seeing him all day, so I agreed.
I think I made a post on this when it happened, so I’ll condense it…anyway, something told me to go a particular way out of my neighborhood, instead of the way I ALWAYS always go. I was doing about 50mph (speed limit is 45 on that road) and some…*()^&*&^$ ran a red light, attempting to turn left into a neighborhood righ infront of me. TOTALED my car, totaled his car (but I don’t remember what his car looked like other than it was a beige Mitsubishi) and luckily we were both able to walk away from it. I was scared at first because I couldnt’ feel my hands and feet-they were numb. A nice man who showed up, named Paul had to dial my mother’s phone number for me, my fingers wouldn’t function at first. It must have been just shock because the feeling eventually came back into them. Paul was really nice, he said some comforting things and gave me a big long hug. He said he just got off work from Papasitos (or Papadeaux?) so I’m tempted to go find him and thank him for being a friend. π
I went to the hospital, and my knee swole (is that a word?) up to the size of a Texas Grapefruit. It looked cartoon-ish. I had a bruise going from my upper thigh to my ankle that turned rainbow colors π and I was in a wheel chair for about 3 weeks and 100% dependent on my family to do every little thing for me (I hated it :() People say childbirth is “the most painful thing you’ll ever feel in your whole life”, but even though I don’t know from experience, I’d have to challange that. I know there are worse things (burn victims for example) but personally….
To this day I don’t know what in the car my knee hit because the guy hit me on the left side of the car, but yet my right wrist was fractured and my right knee-the INSIDE of my right knee was damaged. I still have a bruise, a scar and a 4″x4″ numb spot where I only have maybe <5% sensation.
This was SUCH a cool car too! π Wish I could have at least snagged the licence plate off of it.
Recently I was introduced to a friend of a friend named Josh. Apparantly Josh’s father was in a car accident at some point and lost his right leg from the knee down. π
I was at Walmart recently and saw a young-ish looking woman, maybe 32, who appeared to be paralized from maybe the chest down-she was in a hand controlled electric wheel chair. I don’t know what happened to her, but I got the feeling the wheel chair was new to her, and I only imagined that she too could have been in an auto wreck. The last few days I’ve been thinking just how incredibly lucky I was and am, that I was able to 1-walk away from it 2-not suffer any damaging long term effects. I kinda like the bruise. It could have been SO much worse-I’ve got pictures of the car, (I’ll try to post them soon) and I feel so fortunate. The whole ordeal has really changed my life-for the better! It gave a lot of insight into life, and the opportunity to sit around and really think about it. Plus, with the settlement I got (and my lawyer was SUPER nice and super helpful. He and I called each other by our first names and I felt he was more of a friend than a laywer. He inspired me to take an interest into going to law school π And also told me that I could use the Bachelor of Arts I was wanting to get, and still get into law school! So I could be a Graphic Designer like I’ve always wanted, and if I decide to, I can pursue a career in law as well :))…but with the settlement, I was able to pay off all my debts, get some new shiny things and have the opportunity to go visit GB π π π
I’ve barely even been out of Texas, and I’m super excited to have the chance to leave the country! (not that I don’t like it here…..)February 12, 2008 at 7:18 am #661815WolfenMachine wrote:Secrets? Because you’re too busy trying to ban the memory of bright pink. π

February 14, 2008 at 5:57 pm #661816I remember your post about the accident. I am so glad you got a great settlement. That makes some of the pain bearable. Speaking of, I have had a kid and child birth is def not the most painful thing in the world. I think the Nijmegen march is, but that is only in my personal experience. π

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Four_Days_Marches_Nijmegen
The International Four Day Marches Nijmegen (or Vierdaagse) is the largest marching event in the world. It is organised every year in Nijmegen in mid-July as a means of promoting sport and exercise. Participants walk 30, 40 or 50 kilometers daily, and, on completion, receive a royally approved medal (Vierdaagsekruis). The participants are mostly civilians, but there are also a few thousand military.
