i found this photo on deviantart and though the the striking head coloring would look amazing on a griffin or dragon. The belly though i think would be a little odd or hard to pull off.

Yes! I have been looking through bird books and the possibilities are endless. Give me suggestions!

I love the various colors on the wings of the glossy ibis and the white-faced ibis. I think this color scheme could transfer over to a griffin.

            Excellent idea grayfire artz!!

That’s so funny — I came up with some griffin color concepts myself and one was also based on a duck. (Albeit a different species)

Melody —> How about using the color scheme of a Mandarin duck?

Very regal and griffin-like, no? πŸ™‚
            (Unless it’s been done already…) 😳

Have you ever made a hummingbird griffin chick?

(Barn and tree swallows) Aren’t they cute?

Yes it is! — that should work perfectly Heather!! It’s feathers possess a certain richness, they sort of evoke stained glass to me. πŸ™‚

How about like a male mallard duck? I love their green heads!

I can’t wait for the phoenixes. I am going to paint so many bird colors on them. I love birds. They are all awesome!
