Melody are you going to re-stock the wolf griffins at all before retiring them? I was hoping to acquire at least the male in that color but i can’t find any anywhere π I was hoping you might repaint more once the factory was getting set back up but I heard you mention you wanted to retire the color so I thought I would ask if there would be anymore at all or not? Thank you! π

I have been trying to decide if we should paint more Wolf colored griffins or not. I wasn’t overly fond of the way they ended up looking in production. The paint scheme “drifted” until they ended up looking like grey griffins with thick brown stripes, instead having brown shading on the edges of the grey areas. We should probably make another batch or two, then retire them. I still need to find a new production Griffin color to replace them with.

Hmmm…
I’m all for new production colors. I was personally thinking a cat color theme would be nice. Maybe a Siamese or Tabby? Or maybe a bird themed? Snowy owl, or – may favorite – barn owl? it does occur to me that a production piece can’t be to complicated, but I’m just rambling here π³ .November 18, 2010 at 9:35 pm #831822drag0nfeathers wrote:*screams* LYNX POINT!! November 18, 2010 at 10:31 pm #831824I kind of agree with you, Melody π³ I LOVED all the “Wolf” test paints you did (and I know many were too complicated for production but STILL) but the production ones-personally I think they need stripes on their wings and maybe some touches of white. Also the male I had recently looked like his paint was too thin-or the antiquing was too dark.
Years ago I photoshopped what I think would look better-Melody, I hope you are not too offended.
Personally I *LOVE* the Ferrous male Griffin that went up. Lovelovelovelove. Again I know he is too complex for production but his color scheme-orange, black and white would be amazing π He’d look good with dark blue eyes too (complimentary color to the orange)
Or something simple based off this guy in shades of burnt caramel (He is Barred Wing Wolf #2 and all mine :D)

November 19, 2010 at 5:27 am #831826I love my wolf griffins…
I loved the siamese ones that I saw in a picture awhile back, and the copper ones on ebay are really neat too.
If anyone’s interested, I believe my local retailer has a male and female wolf griffin. If anyone’s interested, you can PM me and I’ll give you their number.

Yesss, he was a beauty, wasn’t he? The test paint is currently keeping company in my apartment.
I do like the griffins you’ve been painting, Melody, but as a personal preference I like it when they have slightly more fantastical coloring. We’ve had brown, two types of black, white/pearl, and wolf which is a grey-brown. Why not a blue griffin, or yellow/golden, or reddish (like the drool-worthy guy on eBay)? You can keep the natural markings but intensify the colors. I’m just speaking out my mind here, so if you don’t like it, feel free to ignore me. π
Windstone collector in remission. π
