Say, about the auction description: ‘seems to me that barn owls do have three toes pointing forward on their feet. They’re a different family from all the other owls, Tytonidae instead of Strigidae; the feet were one of the reasons they got their own family. The neighborhood barn owl won’t come close enough for me to double-check . . . but I could swear all those hissy toe-dusting babies we rehabbed in school were three-forward-one-back.I don’t know… I googled it just now and a lot of places say three toes forward. But a Barn own website from the UK said three toes forward in flight and only two forward when perched.
I believe the UK site is correct. If you check out the picture of a Barn Owl perched on a branch on the Cornell Ornithology Lab, it has two toes forward, two backward. I’ve only ever seen them perched with two, but I saw one grabbing with three in front once on a documentary. They have some interesting facts about them, including that they performed better than all other animals ever tested at finding prey by sound alone in absolute darkness. They amount of spotting they possess actually appears to have a purpose (at least on the females). π

Yes… please go see the websites and get distracted… I mean enjoy! *whistles non-chalantly* π³ π

That Jade Silver is still my favorite coloring ever on that sculpt. =)
February 28, 2009 at 7:49 am #741688This Poad is kinda neat because of all the Lilac Gold Nettuce ones, she has the most butterfly-ish looking pattern.
She is too orange in these photos (my fault). Her actual color is more copper than orange, like on the Wisteria Poad.

I agree – it’s a really stunning color scheme!
February 28, 2009 at 2:27 pm #741690My dragon by Jennifer came! And she’s gorgeous! I put her right in front in the case – she makes me smile every time I see her. And she must be good luck – I had chemo Mon and so far the side effects haven’t been too bad this time. See, dragons are better than drugs! π
