Say, about the auction description: ‘seems to me that barn owls do have three toes pointing forward on their feet. They’re a different family from all the other owls, Tytonidae instead of Strigidae; the feet were one of the reasons they got their own family. The neighborhood barn owl won’t come close enough for me to double-check . . . but I could swear all those hissy toe-dusting babies we rehabbed in school were three-forward-one-back.

I don’t know… I googled it just now and a lot of places say three toes forward. But a Barn own website from the UK said three toes forward in flight and only two forward when perched.
