This is interesting. See, Susie and I thought it was a good idea too, putting a Windstone up as BIN for people to see and help us get exposure. However, certain others (not naming names! 😀 ) think its a horrible idea, because they are paranoid that if people see one of out BINs end without selling, it will somehow tarnish our image, or something…
Put me in with you and Susie! I think that the risk is worth the reward. I mean someone bought it after all, but even if they didn’t, I think that people understand the economy is weird enough right now that if they see a $850 dragon collectible not sell then I don’t think your image would be tarnished in their eyes. Why on earth would it? I mean good grief there are still retail stores out there that have Windstones that have been retired for years- to me, that reads as more ‘damaging’ than a $850 dragon not selling its first try. 😉

My art: featherdust.comFebruary 5, 2009 at 6:12 pm #741475Hmm….Even if it doesnt sell, there will most likely be folks who look at it and maybe research ‘windstone’ or perhaps visit the site. I’d gauge how useful it is by how many page views the auction has, especially for regular items that we’re really familiar with here. Regular items are things that an experienced collector (like many forum members) may pause at while scrolling down, but not actively click the auction to visit the page, because they know what’s there, since they’ve seen the info before. Newer traffic, people who might just be searching ‘dragons’ would be more likely to click on something like that. I’d check the counter on the auction pages…and see if the ebay fees are worth the trade-off of however much traffic certain items might be getting.

oh gee…definately…. Good lord…$850 for one dragon is a massive buy, for anyone! My comment was more directed at smaller items..like smaller dragons and pyos. 🙂
February 5, 2009 at 8:33 pm #741477It is just my personal opinion also, that who would even have the concern to make note of, or even pay attention to, how many times an individual item cycles through on eBay without selling? And if they did, who would really care? I browse eBay a lot for lots of things, and I see hundreds of BIN items ending all the time that I know will most likely not be bought, and will just be put up again when they end. And to me that’s normal, that’s just how eBay works. The fact that things are constantly relisted, to me, only means that good, even though I didn’t want to buy that now, at least when/if I do, one will probably be up there for me from such-n-such a buyer.

I only have the one. Most of the Ebay Poadsâ„¢ sold while I was on cruise. Can’t really Ebay on a military ship. Internet is awful.

Funny I agree it’s just normal and one shouldn’t complain however it actually annoys me a little bit. I don’t mind when something is what I would consider to be at a reasonable price but just doesn’t garner any interest and it gets relisted for another go round with no reserve. The ones that annoy me are the ones that have a buy now and a reserve that starts high and gets no interest so they go around again and not just for 4 days or some other short time but for 29 days and you just know it’s not going to get bought again because the reserve is to high to get people into it so it’s most likely going to go around again. Often times the reserve or buy now will even go up to cover expenses. :negative:
February 6, 2009 at 6:09 am #741483Hm, that orangish-lilac mix is really not my thing. I don’t much like the lap.
I hope we see a budgie Poad up sometime. I’d be tempted by that. 🙂February 6, 2009 at 12:58 pm #741484I really like the Lap. It’s an odd color combo – but I really like it and think it works well. I wish I had a chance to win her.
February 6, 2009 at 7:59 pm #741485I LOVE the Lap colors!!
She can some to my house anytime!!February 6, 2009 at 8:00 pm #741486Wah!! That’s my favorite Poad out of this bunch and I can’t have it. 😥
February 7, 2009 at 11:44 pm #741487I totally dig that Lap dragon. I so wish I could get one. My New Years resolutions and a broken fence needing repair at my house are plotting against me, though.
February 8, 2009 at 12:31 am #741488I love that cranberry/gold combination on the curlie! Have there ever been other dragons in that color scheme? It’s lovely.
