September 10, 2009 at 6:18 am #756942So cute – I wonder what she’ll sell for.
September 10, 2009 at 8:16 am #756943I like that cuttle poad but that pink lap is freakin awesome with those eyes.
Yeah, getting towards the dead zone where nothing sells too well. Its a good time to buy, though!!! π
September 10, 2009 at 3:04 pm #756944Well it looks as though the Poad is up to $360 and the Lap is $202 and who knows what the Sparrow Griff will go for. It may be a ‘dead’ zone but there are some people who still have some money. [Looks in pockets and sees moths, lint and everything else but no money–sigh] π
September 10, 2009 at 8:29 pm #756945Unfortunately still a dead zone for me! Even if the income situation improves, we want to find our own place so… (watches moths fly off with lint with LadyFirebird) I missed the lap though, will have to see it.
Did anyone here get the ‘Lime’ PYO by Olimpia? I liked the looks of that color, would like to see it better and elsewhere. (maybe with orange or red eyes to stand out…)September 11, 2009 at 3:28 pm #756946Ski– yeah.. I’ve been watching the auctions with some worry. I may not be painting for a while.

Now that is getting scary! Unfortunately, when it comes down to one’s basic needs and a pretty–the basic needs wins out. This economy is really sucking the life out of a lot of people! What would Windstones ebay be without a piece here and there from Jen! I’ve noticed as well, things that aren’t selling as high as they once were. With the casting problems at the factory and such, it’s going to put Windstones in a bad way I’m afraid.
Crud, we love our Windstones but money is tight and that hurts everyone! Don’t know what we can do–have to sit it out and hope for the best. π
September 11, 2009 at 6:35 pm #756948I hear that! Food and shelter always come before pretties. I’m so glad we pre-purchased heat for half this winter last month, or we would have some scary times ahead in our household.

My art: featherdust.comSeptember 12, 2009 at 1:55 am #756949Well, I’m just watching (not bidding) on that pink pearl lap and it is now up to $500 with 40 minutes to go. Well, we may not be in a dead zone yet–just depends on what’s up. So Jen, I know your pieces always goes for big bucks and hopefully you’ll still be painting. Hopefully, a little silver lining in these dark, dark economic clouds π
Update: That lap just went for $601! I say that Melody send Jen a SK, OW, Lap or Griffin–I’m sure it’ll go for 4 figures! I won’t be able to get it but it will bring in some money! π
September 12, 2009 at 4:47 am #756950Thats a good price. More than I can currently afford, unfortunately. I hope the slump doesnt hit you too hard, Jen. Its so rough depending on the economy for a freakin income. :negative:
September 12, 2009 at 5:42 am #756951The pink lap was too much for me right now too. I don’t have anything in pink yet, and I was so excited to see it. I bid my max and watched the price soar above and beyond. I think that means someone loved her more than me. Whoever gets her, congratulations!! π
The funniest thing happened to me during the bidding though. I don’t bid on a lot of the Windstone eBay auctions, so this was maybe my third one. I was working late tonight, and I had the eBay auction open in another tab, just to see how much she would go for. At one point I was shaking my fist at the screen, because the then current bid wasn’t too much over my max. I was like, “No! You have to go for more, or I’ll cry all the way home!” (I promised myself I would only bid up to a certain amount, because there are so many new dragons I need. 8) ) One of my co-workers walked by my office while I was shaking my fist, and gave me the most confused look. π I don’t much like him, but I’ve never actually made rude gestures at him before. It was not much fun trying to explain whay I was doing that, but it was worth making him wonder for a few minutes what he did to make me so mad. π
September 12, 2009 at 1:03 pm #756952That’s a funny story, DDW. Don’t worry, he just thinks you’re nutty now. π π

You’re not the only one–if I place my maximum and see someone else outbid me by only a few dollars I feel oh please go for more because then I’m sick! Crazy, and sometimes I’ll just sit back and watch an item I would have loved to have but can’t afford, just to see how much it ends up going for. Can comfort myself–hey, you couldn’t afford that anyway! π π
September 12, 2009 at 11:41 pm #756955This always sounds greedy, which is why I hate bringing it up. But I just wanted to explain so that no one things I’m just trying to withhold pretty Windstones! π
The problem with my work- it takes such a very, very long time to paint, that the ‘break even’ point can be several hundred dollars alone. That is the downside to hand painted pieces and why Windstone does not employ hand painted pieces for Normal or even Limited production. It’s not that I’m greedy when I’m looking for higher prices… I just want to make sure that both Windstone and I can make an actual profit. Which does sound a bit money-mongering I know! But when you think of it as my paycheck– and it literally is, both for myself and the folks at the Windstone factory– it changes how I look at it I suppose! I also have to remember that my pay checks don’t include any of the benefits of having tax already taken out.. I have to pay that afterward, at twice the normal rate, and I have to pay for my own health coverage, and pay into my own retirement with no aid. So that profit shrinks and shrinks to nothing, and sometimes even negative numbers.I figure for now, I should focus on things that I enjoy and have a higher probability of keeping my bills paid and stomach fed. π
