Ummm….I can afford ebay sometimes, but I don’t go out to eat, I don’t go to movies, I don’t have kids, I don’t buy new cloths, I don’t buy new shoes just because they are cute, I don’t smoke, I cut way back on the book buying, my car is 15 years old but paid for, it’s cheap to plate and insure, I don’t go to clubs or basically out anywhere, and I work 80 + hours a week.
basically I squirrel the extra away so I can splurge once in a while and many pieces I like go way to high so I just sigh. I understand the frustration though. There were many years where I could not afford to bid on ebay and it was very frustrating.

I’m pretty much in the same boat. No TV, no dining out, no kids, old clothes, VERY old car, etc etc. It’s all about prioritizing what you’re going to spend money on. It may seem like some of us have a lot, but I know in my case it can be months, and sometimes almost a year between eBay wins. I try to pick my battles very, very carefully, and have seen some gorgeous pieces go to another loving home because I just wouldn’t allow myself to type in any more numbers.
*shrugs* We also are all different ages, walks of life, and different financial situations.
Windstone collector in remission. 😉

So many of these pieces are going for more than I pay for my monthly mortgage. How are they doing it? I want to know their secret to having so much disposible income.
Yes, I admit it, I am insanely jealous. There have been soooo many pieces on ebay that I wanted, but there was no point in even bidding. All I get to do is drool! Not that I am complaint too much, but I haven’t even been able to spend my piddling amount in the store, as I am not fast enough to get them before they sell out!
I really need to win the lotto!

I saved saved saved when I first saw Arlla’s tiger griffins which was almost a year before they were put up on ebay. I also dug a lil into our wedding fund. But my fiance knew I wanted them so badly. Also my father passed away when I was 18 and from my inheritence I have all my school payed for and that helps but I would give everything up to get my dad back. Its true money can’t buy happiness 🙁
June 16, 2009 at 12:32 am #756449I agree with the prioritizing.
I *could* probably get an eBay piece or two, but I’d have to give up going to the movies or going out to a nice dinner with my best friend every weekend, and I value the money spent that way more than a statue sitting very prettily on my shelf 🙂
June 16, 2009 at 2:02 am #756450I agree with you girls, I don’t know how some do it. I wish I could afford this auction of the bengal… 😥 :shout:

Thanks Laurie. It’s nice when you know someone cares. 🙂
We are doing fine but it very difficult physicaly. Caring for my 19 year old (soon to be 20 in august) without any help from a lift or something is very difficult. But we are managing
I’m not on to much since this is dial up and take for ever just to open a page. Sometimes it takes all but 5 minutes to open one and that is without pictures!
So you guys are going to get a break from my photos for about a year or unless I can access another faster internet someone else. 😆June 16, 2009 at 5:04 am #756452That’s fine, just don’t give us a break from you! We miss you!

I got the Lilac Gold Nettuce Poad and flipped out! Was the first eBay bidding I actually got! If it isn’t a ‘buy now’ deal, then I usually lose. These items are beautiful but I have only so much room. I really did splurge this month on Windstones but believe me, I’ll be watching my purse strings for a while here. When I see pieces go for 4 figures I just flip out–that’s a lot of money for a figurine! When an item gets over $300 I’m usually done. With that money, I’d like to get more items.
I’m like everyone else–don’t go out much and it’s just me and my creatures. Don’t go shopping for new clothes, go to clubs so on and so forth. I did get myself a new car last year to replace a 20 year old one I had. Basically, I’m a pretty boring person who likes Windstones and animals and who would one day like to paint a PYO and have it turn out pretty good. Ooooo, getting very amibitious in my old age! 😆 When I was very young, there were all sorts of pretty things that I wanted and could never have. Now that I’m a bit older, I can splurge every now and then but not to the tune of $4,000 for one piece! Yipes! 😮
So I like the smaller pieces–fledglings, curls, Poads and I especially love the griffins! In my future there will be an Old Warrior, just have to decide what color scheme I like and I do like the laps–there is going to be one of those in my future as well.
So we’re all in the same boat–wishing and wanting and sometimes we luck out. 🙂
