Yes indeed! π
December 10, 2009 at 7:52 pm #795366A lot of the Windstones do go up in value over time but I think most of us Windstone Forum collectors collect them for their beauty and because we love love love them and we cry when we do have to part with one of them due to an emergency, etc
December 10, 2009 at 8:08 pm #795367I used to think of them as investments, but that does not work during these times. There are many special peices so its hard to think of them as special (investment-wise. As a collector, I love them.), and the production peices come up for sale so often that all you have to do is wait for what you want and you will get it for less than store costs. Then there is always the chance that special peices will become production. My BG prototype first sold for $1100, but now you can get that color as production for much less. No longer a good investment, so its lucky that that peice has special meaning for me. White Emps used to sell for $500…you will not see those prices now. Now, I just buy the ones I have the intention of keeping, and if I do want to sell a peice, I can wait for the months when people have money… like NOT December!! lol

Now there’s something I can tell my husband when another box shows up that says “FRAGILE” on it and he rolls his eyes… π

It really just depends on which piece it is.
Yes, this. Older pieces in Peacock color, in particular, always seem to sell pretty cheaply, doubtless because the color ran for so long (and was so well-distributed: *if* a store had Windstones, they were *always* the Peacocks, back when I was first collecting).
Older pieces in White seem to do well, usually (too bad I’ll never — knock on wood! — sell mine!), probably because they weren’t made for as long (I think) and they just weren’t “pushed” as much as the Peacocks were; fewer people saw them in stores, so fewer people bought them.
Interested in buying or trading for: GB Pebble Sitting Red Fox in dark grey, Lap Dragon Test Paints (Water Sprite, Glacial Pearl, Opulence, Pastel Rainbow, and many others - see my Classifieds ad), Blue Morpho OW, GB Pebble Loaf dragons in blue/aqua/teal, and Griffin Test Paints (Black Rainbow or Frosted Jade).
December 14, 2009 at 6:47 am #795371Aside from their beauty and value as pieces of artwork, I think msot Windstones can double as investments. Old Warriors always sell well; flapcats are sought after; whites and browns are popular. Also, if you’re pinched for money, you can always sell them – maybe not with profit, but they are kind of like keeping ready cash on hand.
