Hiya Melody! I’ve been thinking of putting together an UNOFFICIAL Windstone collectors guide with info and photos that showcases the history and evolution of the Windstone sculptures-from the old line of “real” animals to the newer Amethyst and Copper Patina schemes. I’ve been wanting an excuse to use my copy of Adobe InDesign, and I think it would be a fun project. The finished result would be a PDF people could download. As long as I credit Windstone for the photos and the sculpts, would you mind if I made something like this? Ive already started writing up the text, but Ive got 100 different projects going (Im sure you know what that’s like 😀 )so I haven’t had time to work on it as much as I’d like. Just a for-fun kind of thing.
Also a question for everyone else-especially the newer collectors-would anyone be interested in downloading a copy once its finished?

My art: featherdust.comJune 4, 2011 at 2:38 am #847284This is the kind of thing that I’d love to see come out as an official publication: hardcover, full color, nice glossy paper, coffee table type book.
Has every Windstone been documented up until now?
If not, I would guess that it should be possible to obtain pictures of many of the undocumented pieces through collectors.

Second, yes this is a John question. He is doing the dishes right now so I don't want to distract him.June 4, 2011 at 4:35 am #847290This is the kind of thing that I’d love to see come out as an official publication: hardcover, full color, nice glossy paper, coffee table type book.

We have a huge archive of photos, and if they were all digital it wouldn’t be so…INSANELY DIFFICULT to put a book together, but probably a good half of our recorded images are “real” so getting them together is a BIG job!
But still… <3 <3 <3June 4, 2011 at 4:36 am #847292This is the kind of thing that I’d love to see come out as an official publication: hardcover, full color, nice glossy paper, coffee table type book.

We have intended to get a book together for years. Nobody has had a spare brain cell to put to it though!

That, I have no trouble believing!
It would be a lovely project though.

Unfortunately at the moment I dont have the spare brain time to offer…but I’d also love to see a book available someday.
June 4, 2011 at 10:43 pm #847357Photos from private collectors would be your best bet I think. We don’t have digital pictures of a GREAT MANY of our own sculpts, and a lot of the ones we do have are honestly not that great. Personally, as a consumer, I much prefer to see “real” pictures (pictures taken by private owners) rather than the beauty shots taken by the company.
June 4, 2011 at 11:53 pm #847359that sounds fun. I would definitely download that. Are you thinking just production or ebay ones too? That would be daunting

Yeah, including ALL of the ebay sculpts would be a job. I’d have to find descriptions that went with them too. I was thinking of just touching on them, putting up a few pictures that I have (and some I saved from auctions)
