Hello,
I know you are just getting up and running in your new building, But I wanted to ask if you would consider starting a Yearly Special Windstone Members Only Pieces? “Dragons, cats, poads, Griffins, etc”? 🙂 squeek*

But it may not actually happen, due to our general “too-much-stuff-to-do” issues. That would be something we would do for club members. If we had a club.
February 4, 2009 at 11:03 pm #751002Hum, What would all of us need to do to start a club in order to get the Yearly Members Windstone pieces?
I hope everything is starting to come together and run smoothly for you at this new place.
Thanks 🙂
February 5, 2009 at 6:03 am #751003Mostly we’d need to come to a conclusion of what exactly the club would consist of, and how to make it different from the forum. And Windstone, of course, would have to find the time to make special pieces and run special club correspondence. Frankly, I think the forum does just fine as a club. Our special pieces are the LP things that hit the store. Nobody but forum members knows about them, after all.
February 5, 2009 at 11:47 am #751004We might know about them..but even members get left out of some items from time to time…would be nice to have a guaranteed item.. 😉
Then there were all those special deals , discounts, ect, mentioned that would really help some of us out in actually purchasing new pieces… 😀
February 6, 2009 at 6:41 am #751005But for a “guaranteed” item, Windstone would either have to make a certain pre-ordered number, or have pieces left over of an item they can’t sell outside the club because it’s reserved for club members. And though discounts are always nice, I don’t think Windstone is making all that much profit per piece with the prices they have now.
I dunno. It’s all up to Melody and John anyway.February 6, 2009 at 9:10 am #751006If it was me, I’d make around 50 or so then just make more as needed…you would only have to make enough for each year, since it would changing the next year. Or just have a certain time to sign up..like a three month period..sign up after that and you get the next years piece instead…that way you could pre-determine how you would need per year.
February 8, 2009 at 8:03 pm #751007I think the pre-order idea is the best that way every member that wanted one would get one and there would be none left-over.
February 13, 2009 at 5:27 am #751008The pre-order thing would work too if there was a yearly membership fee say $150.00 (as most decent sized dragons/gryphons etc. are around that price mark, and its not so expensive as to limit membership to people in the highest income brackets). Then everyone who signed up for the club would have the piece (valued at $150.00) or two smaller pieces (valued at $150.00) bi-yearly sent out to them.
Also to add to the club feel each member could be mailed a copy of that years store issued catalog/ brochure and be signed up for pre announcement emails on Lp items arriving in store…ie: this tuesday at 12:00 pm “such and such gryphon” will make it to the store click here for option to hold said piece and have credit card/ paypal charged to your account.
This way your only making pieces that are gauranteed to be already sold. Also you may want to limit the period when membership can be applied for. Example: membership must be signed up for by May 30th of 2009 after that people will be signed up for membership starting the following year. Then everyone who is a member can have a certificate mailed out with the club piece letting them know it is one of only 1000 pieces or however many members there are that sign up…..

I think Melody doesn’t like working with a deadline. At Windstone, things seem to happen whenever they’re ready.
I do think the $150 membership for a larger “club piece” is worth consideration, though.
February 13, 2009 at 6:27 am #751010I didnt mean she would give an exact date to have pieces ready (other than at some point that year :)), I meant as an added bonus when they know something in an Lp color/production will be going to the store they give members a pre-purchase option a few days before they go in store, like the small orange flapcats.
Not every member will want to buy these items (or be obligated to) but it would be nice to have the option as a club member, it sucks to feel like you’ll miss something awesome because you happen to have a shift when they go in store, I only just managed to get a few items by fluke on the days I check instore four or five times. It would be an added perk!!!
and the catalog would just be the regular little five or six page one they send out to the brick and mortar dealers, some people like to display them with their collections.
February 13, 2009 at 6:28 am #751011Ah, I see. Well, I’d certainly make use of that feature if it were ever to become reality. 😀
February 13, 2009 at 6:34 am #751012you and me both :).
Also if I signed up one year and the club member piece was something I wasnt crazy about ie: a black dragon it woulnt be hard to find a non-member or a late joining member to purchase it here on the forum or on Ebay. So even if your Windstone picky….looking for someone……anyone…… 😀 The prepaid membership fee wouldnt be a problem because there will always be someone who wants a limited production piece that missed out when it rolled around.
