Ok, I’m kinda pulling out my hair here. This very nice lady ordered a custom wolf. Ok. I painted the wings(see other thread), and she said she didn’t like that eye color, she wanted straw. Ok. So I ordered her straw eyes. She has now said that she doesn’t want straw, she wants grey. I don’t have any grey eyes coming.
SO. To off set shipping, I always order 4ish. Having just order 6, I don’t have the funds to order 4 more, but she already paid, and so I’m offering 2 custom slots with whatever eye color you want for $65 each postage paid anywhere in the US. I’m only offering what I *know* I can do. I’m also only offering wolves, Ki Rins, and Ki Rins right now(I think it’s a phase….
Horse base color w/rainbow- having seen it a couple times, it looks slick. Ki Rins have rainbow scales, wolves have rainbow wings. 🙂 )
Rainbow Colors- the dragon I did that was head to toe rainbow was slick. I can also do rainbow “color”, like, light blue to dark blue. Looks best on the dragons.
Full blown horse colors-haven’t done anythign like that yet, but I can do all horse color, with no rainbow.
Thanks for looking, I thought it was worth offering 😀
April 25, 2007 at 10:35 pm #566545by now you should speak up. You are spending money to order a pyo for her that she is not Paying for. she at first siad straw so you ordered straw..now she changes her mind? she needs to pay for the extra PYO and shipping if she has changed her mind. This is my opinion..other wise you are loosing a bit of monney out of this.
April 25, 2007 at 11:51 pm #566546Agreed. If she told you straw at first, then she should get straw. If she changes her mind, then tell her she needs to pay the difference of a PYO cost + shipping, or just deal with the straw wolf. I would do this with a commissioner- if they told me one thing and 60 hours of painting later changed their minds, they’d either have to deal with it or pay a fee for me to change it. In this case a fee could be equal to the cost of the new PYO you’d have to order. And make sure she pays up front or at least 50% down if she decides to do this. 😉
Edit: This is a good example, and a word of warning to anyone that takes personal (or business) commissions: Be very clear on your terms, (including penalties such as changing one’s mind halfway though completion) and stick to them. A lot of people out there that commission artists don’t really know what goes into your art, or don’t know how to deal with the commission process. If you have your guidelines up front and they agree, there should be far fewer misunderstandings. I’ve done commissions for over 10 years now and have all sorts of horror stories- trust me, you and your customer will be happier in the end if you give them terms to look over right off the bat! 😉

My art: featherdust.comApril 26, 2007 at 1:34 pm #566547Hey Guys,
Actually, when I told her that I don’t have the money to order her a new one, she just paid for the whole thing up front 😯 I don’t really mind, to be honest, I love painting the windstones(if it was a model horse I’d be far more peev’d) and I’ve wanted to do a white rainbow wolf for a while now, and now I have one I can do after the show. It’s more just a general annoyance that she keeps changing the eye color. I *personally* don’t care for the straw eyes, and wouldn’t have ordered it, the reason I order the eye colors I do is in case I just HAVE to keep something I paint….which does happen every now and then 🙄On a separate note, I do have another minor issue. This very nice lady bought 2 wolves from me, and then I told her about the third I just finished, and she said she wanted him too. Awesome, right? But….she hasn’t paid in like a week. She paid for the first two within a day. I don’t want bad feedback for slow shipping(the first two were eBay) but if she wants all three I don’t want her to have to pay extra shipping…wonder if she’s sick? I haven’t heard back from her.
