I watched this documentary this afternoon. If follows a small herd of wild horses in what is called the Ghost Forest, in the Canadian Rockies.

It focuses mainly on a colt (Stone Child) through the first 4 seasons of his life. We see him almost right after birth when his mom (Sweet Pine) is bringing him back to the herd, meeting his dad (Crow Foot) and his elder sister (Blossom), playing with his friend (Mischief), being rescued from a cougar by Crow Foot and escaping a pack of wolves with Blossom and Mischief.

It was a very touching documentary, but bittersweet viewing at the same time because we learn that there are only about 800 wild horses left in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, and their territory is growing smaller and smaller because of the logging industry.

The documentary was filmed in 2007/2008 which would make Stone Child 4 years old today. I hope he survived and managed to get mares of his own.
