Some of you may have lost sleep (yeah, right) over the fact that the last PYO I painted was for the last swap.
I thought I’d share why, since this project is starting to look like something. We have a huge blank wall going into our basement and I have the bright idea to paint a mural (le chateau de Champignac from Spirou and Fantasio, for those of you who are into French comic books). I scanned the pages and blew up the whole thing using my little projector – but I never thought to take pics of the contraption I had to use for this: step ladder, phone books, 2x4s, you name it!
Once that was done, I started to do the clean up in pencil.
This is when I was finished tracing the projection. You can barely see it, but it gives you an idea of the space.
Then I started on the details:
I took a bunch of pics for progress, but I’ll spare you and skip to the next step, painting! This is where I’m at now:
So, I’m supposed to be painting an Antilope Canyon wolf and a heart wood (I think) phoenix, but of course, I’m not!

August 1, 2011 at 11:18 am #852568Hey that’s cool! I have done a mural on a friend’s wall and it is quite an undertaking.I have a pic somewhere,I will find it and get it posted one of these days.I didn’t do it the same way though.I started out just staring at the wall off and on for about a week and one day,the pic was there. All I had to do was paint it.Came out pretty good too.Murals,to me,are easy just a lot of work but worth it.A lot of space to deal with.I am not familiar with the comic but from what you have shown us,it will be a fantastic mural.Have you seen the commercial where the wife paints over Posiedon. That was a shame.LOL Keep up the good work and can’t wait to see it.
Congrats on publishing your book!!Every act matters. No matter how small💞

It is, and after an hour, I usually have to stop.
Also, I’ve discovered that latex paint does not dry as quickly as acrylics… So I do a little bit there, move to another spot far enough so I can’t lean my hand on a wet spot. That’s why so much is partly done all over, instead of having one area complete and lots of blank spots.
Thanks everyone! I’ll be posting once it’s done – in like, 6 months???
