🙄 of all my luck!
My first day of my short vacation from Michel and the car desides to make me stay home!I went to see the movie Avatar last night with my friend Yves and on my way back something broke on the car…..in the driveway!
And of course the garage is closed until Jan 5th!
There is a loud sound of metal on metal when I drive foward or backwards….doesn’t go away when I apply the brakes.
On the drivers side front wheel. My friend Yves tried to look at it with flashlight but it was late (11PM). He did say that the brake pad doesn’t seam to be stuck or anything….???
FUCK!
Now this morning Raven is sick again.
On the good side the movie was great! 🙂 It was 3D.
The place was packed so we had to sit in the second front row….now when you ware glasses (prescription) it very difficult to see from that angle. And way to close to the screen….my poor neck! The seats don’t incline so you have to move your head all the time to capture everything.well I’m of to work…good thing I live near mom’s and we can share a ride.
I just hate to be confined at home afterwards when I could be doing stuff elsewhere. 🙁December 30, 2009 at 9:46 am #499926December 30, 2009 at 9:36 pm #798443How frustrating!!!! It’s like you have the gods of dismay watching over you to make sure you don’t have a good time or something. Hey, what’s this—she’s going to a movie—looks like she’s having a good time–she’s smiling–can’t have that–let’s go down there and f**k something up! I feel these b*st*rds are watching over me too! It’s always scary when you hear metal on metal when you’re driving the car–like you expect to look back and see metal parts littering the roadway.
I feel especially bad about Raven–poor kitty. I really hope things work out for you–that what’s wrong with the car isn’t that bad and Raven gets better and the gods of dismay go straight to hell! 👿
December 30, 2009 at 10:00 pm #798444I hope it is something minor and can be fixed quickly – and cheaply
December 31, 2009 at 7:01 am #798445That’s a nuisance, but just be glad the car broke in your driveway, and now somewhere out in the middle of nowhere! Silver, my first motorcycle, constantly gave me problems too, but always within reach of immediate help. Gotta be thankful for the silver lining. *Hugs*
I really hope poor Raven gets better and stays better.December 31, 2009 at 5:03 pm #798446If it is metal on metal and doesn’t stop when the you put on the brakes it sounds like you may have a brake calliper locked up. Check your brake fluid first off…Then during light hours, if you have a friend who can help you get that tire off, take a look at it. Sometimes when the pads get low they have a tendency to come off the nubs on the calliper, and rub against the rotor. My Taurus suffered from brake issues for most of it’s life, and I never could afford to replace the whole system. When its the brakes, you can hear it grind, it sounds like metal to metal does, but without squealing. I hope it is just a brake pad or calliper, most of them are semi inexpensive to fix. But, if you do know someone with mechanical experience, it is your best bet to offer them some form of payment, (ie. food, maybe a case of beer etc.) to put on any parts you may need and buy the parts. I have found brakes can get expensive at dealerships and name brand garages…Sometimes you can get a really good deal at a little hole in the wall mechanic shop too. But (big BUT) make sure you take a GUY along if you go somewhere for the first time…Either that or if you are a good actress, just take it in and tell them to find what is wrong. When they tell you, pretend to know alot about the specs on your car. It works. (Then again, I have a mechanical father, and a few other people who can pretty much guess accurately what the issue is with most cars.)
Good luck with the car!On a side note, I certainly do hope that Raven maybe just has a little bug of some sort. That is a beautiful name for a cat! *soft pets for Raven and big ginormous hugs for you*
December 31, 2009 at 8:26 pm #798447My guess is something in the brakes on that one wheel, which would require a rebuild of the brakes on that wheel. Could be the pads disintegrated and just crumbled (back of the pads on the disk).
December 31, 2009 at 8:56 pm #798448Thanks guys! I think your well wishing paid off.
Would you believe it was a f….. rock! A big one. My friend Mike who happens to be a mechanic looked at it and gave me hell for not calling him everytime there is something wrong with the car….lol. He doesn’t want me to pay more elsewhere. Bless his soul…but I wont take advantage of him either. He told me “see if you would have went elsewhere they would have charged you for removing a rock”. 🙂
Anyway all is in order thank god!
I barely slept 2 hours that night because of it.WindstoneCollector wrote:On a side note, I certainly do hope that Raven maybe just has a little bug of some sort. That is a beautiful name for a cat! *soft pets for Raven and big ginormous hugs for you*
Thank you WC. Here’s my baby Raven (the tabby one).
He’s not been sick today so far. 🙂
Maybe he now just has a hair ball or something this time.BTW I came back home to a mess last night. One of the cats jumped on the top of the cages, broke the lamp that was keeping my sick canary warm and almost made her small hospital cage fall from on top of the other one beneath it. That is what happens when you go out and neglect them. They are so used to having me around.
“No Kitties, that will not make me stay home all the time……nice try! 😈 “
My new year resolution: Have fun! (without getting drunk of course, I don’t go to bars either) 🙂
December 31, 2009 at 9:16 pm #798449Yaaaaaaaay! [sighs sigh of relief with BDW] So glad it was simple and I see some who posted that it might be something inexpensive and I’m glad it was!!!!!!!! Take that you gods of dismay!!!!
