If there was a write-up in the newspaper, contact that writer, with YOUR version of the events, including how the cops let him go, only to allow him to come back after you, and break into somebody else’s car! That should make the writer interested in pursuing the story further and put pressure on the prosecutor’s office to bring more charges. Also, if the police found the phone number to Home Depot on his cell phone, at about the time you were getting the phone calls, that should be probable cause to get a restraining order. If he is in jail now, he can be served while he is there, without a lot of problems, but get ahold of that writer, while the story is still hot, and make them stay on this case!!

Do not become emotional, do not become threatening, ask about the incident, act vulnerable and confused, and why nothing was done about this incident, and perhaps her supervisor(boss) should get in touch with the cop and finish the report. If at this point, the cop tries to blow you off, since the suspect came back into the store where you work looking for you, tell him that you are fearful, and that maybe you should contact the local newscast and relate the information to them about this suspect to alert other possible victims and other stores of his methods.
I think Pyewacket’s advice here is very solid, drag0n. How you approach the Officer’s superior is very important, as well as how you phrase alerting the media (alerting other possible victims, etc.). If they (members of the Police Dept.) aren’t approached in a manner that they feel is non-threatening, you might end up running into the Blue Wall…they’ll just protect each other’s actions and nothing will get done. Also, you will be driving through their jurisdiction to and from work (I assume)…you don’t want to be pulled over for a taillight that is out or a license plate frame that covers part of the plate or some other trivial matter(s) that they are within their rights to pull you over for, but usually don’t bother. I’m not saying this will happen, just that it might happen. Don’t get me wrong, I have the utmost respect for (most) Police Officers…my dad was one for 28 years. We all know there are bad apples in every bushel, though. Just my 2¢.
July 15, 2009 at 7:14 pm #775501Can you say NUT CASE??
I knew you could!!Well in case it has not jumped out at anyone yet maybe a little silver lining is he does not, at least from this, seem to have a very long term memory! He was already in touble with the authorities and just continued on to the next victom so hopefully after they got back all your personal information and they took his cell phone HOPEFULLY any way he had to contact you has been erased from his memory. I doubt he stopped to write anything down. Well except for knowing where you work.
This is a SCAAARY situaton to be in though I’m SURE!!
The most important thing so far is you are still safe
As for the Police SHAME on them for not protecting you. I wonder some times how far do people have to go to get the protection you need?? Do I have to show up in a body bag for you to realize I’m in trouble??
I’ve seen real life stories on TV too where there was a person telling police that they KNEW their life was in Jeopardy because of this person and they did nothing until the ambulance had to pick up the body to take it to the emergancy room or morgue. I know money is tight everywhere and it will create a LOT of paperwork BUT we are talking about public safety.
I can’t imagine HOW they thought it was OK to release him in your stores parking lot though??? I guess 2+2 did not make 4 for that police officerBy ALL means press as many charges as you can to help make sure they get this guy off the streets and help any future victoms
It sounds a bit to me like maybe he should be locked up in a dotox then mental institution???
I’m sorry you had to go thru this CRAP and that your police did not do much more for you*sending hugs and cookies and ice cream*
July 16, 2009 at 9:42 pm #775502dude-drag0n….you cant make that kind of stuff up. Im SO glad you got your CC’s back though.
I would definatly press charges. I wouldn’t want him looking up your SSN, and coming to harass you at home. That’s cause for super parinoyia right there. What a werird-O. Seriously. Like King of the Weirdos…licking the glass of the cop car? creepy.
That’s the most assonine thing I’ve ever heard though- “Oh well, we didn’t SEE him take anything…so we’re not going to arrest him.” WHAT!?!?July 23, 2009 at 4:46 pm #775503Press charges and put the friggin creep where he needs to be…IN JAIL! If everyone presses charges, I am sure the DA will have a field day with it. 🙂
If he goes to jail, you will be able to breathe easier, and you won’t have that “Looking over your shoulder” crappy feeling anymore. I would press charges myself. Now, I am worried about you… 🙄 *frets*July 23, 2009 at 5:24 pm #775504How scary 🙁 . I would press charges even though that seems kind of scray to, but this guy does not sound like someone who should be out on the street. It sounds like he has some severe mental problems and could hurt someone. Stay safe, and if he doesn’t get locked up don’t go anywhere alone.
July 28, 2009 at 5:21 pm #775505That is the craziest story I’ve ever heard, I’m sorry you had to go through that!! @_@
