Sentimental favorite? Probably my broken Rainbow Emperor (although my friend said she would try to fix him…she’s FANTASTIC at sculpting tiny details)
When the rainbows had just barely been retired, I decided to get him as a reward for getting a ‘B’ in US History in summer school (in college) Since the rainbows were about to dissappear, I ordered him and kept him in the box for weeks! It was such torture, not being able to open him! When I finally was able to…he was indeed broken. 🙁 The store had sent him via the postal service, so even after 6 months, still no word on a refund. I guess I felt sorry for him…standing so bold, so proud so fierce…and yet broken at somebody’s negligent hands.
Non sentimental favorite SCULPT? Probably my OOAK spotted small flapcat.

Second favorite…prodbably my emerald riser or black male unicorn. I wanted both of them for so long, it was a real treat when they FINALLY came home! But, on another paw, the treasures of my collection are my little spotted flap cat mentioned above, Spring Green Gold SK, and my print collection 🙂 I’ve got approx 11 of Melody’s prints….
1. Mother unicorn with babies (B&W)
2. Mother unicorn with babies (color)
3. Uniorn head with black berries (B&W)
4. Unicorn head with black berries (color)
5. Unicorn and child (b&w) (this comes in color, but alas, I have not aquired it yet)
6. Dragon (the current one you can get in stores)
7. Mother dragon with babies (B&W)
8. Wizard’s lair (color)
9. male Pegasus (very old one)
10. Unicorn mother with baby (B&W)
11. Knight on horse (B&W)May 19, 2009 at 10:16 pm #763963I think my one most favorite piece is my test paint griffy boy, “Colored Sunburst”. My heart races every time I look at him. I like him more and more every day.
And for sentimental reasons, the two I would never ever sell: peacock lap (also my favorite sculpt) and peacock mother. The lap was a gift from one of my best friends because he saw her and thought of me, and the mother was a gift from another friend who knew I loved dragons and windstones. In both cases, neither one has funds to spare much, so they really mean alot. The mother dragon is all chipped and beat up and has been retouched in alot of places, he admitted he got her ‘for a really good price’ so I told him she was perfect when he asked if she was in good condition (he knows I’m a perfectionist). Hehe. These two are the only two people have ever given me, my parents knew I loved windstones for … decades almost, and never gifted me with any. I also keep these two on display in the house, instead of in the curio.
May 31, 2009 at 4:05 am #763964Oh, wow, this is a HARD decision! For one thing, I just got a female griffin in Black Sunset TODAY, after nearly a year of waiting, and I just want to stare and drool and sing to her — I can’t believe how beautiful she is in person!
Then there’s my White Old Warrior — for once I managed to get a piece shortly before it “expired”, and I didn’t even know they weren’t going to make more, so it was pure luck. He “almost-completes” my White collection (I don’t have any White spectrals, but he completes the “regular dragon” part of it), and is now irreplaceable as well as incredibly beautiful since they aren’t making any more.
Then there’s my Emerald OW — I found her in the shop after the color was retired, for $179, and took her on the spot. I had never cared about the Emeralds before (I’m a White collector at heart), but I had never seen one up close; this was love at first sight. Actually, come to think of it, I’ve done that once before in that shop — my Peaock Oriental was a total impulse buy, made when I went in to order a White dragon. I couldn’t resist his amazing colors, so he went home with me as “consolation prize” while I waited on that White dragon… though I almost came to regret him later when the line went retired and I only had him! Took me forever to hunt down the other two.
But if I had to pick a “save from burning building” favorite, it’s going to be my prototype BVP Warrior. Everything else, however valuable, can be replaced with insurance money and time; but this guy is obviously not like that. I knew the minute I saw the first one that I had to have one, no matter that I had never, ever spent that much money on a thing ever before; and then I lost the bid for #2 and #10, which are two of my favorite numbers, and I was crushed — I was sure that I would never win one after that because the price would go higher as they went toward the last (#15).
And then I won #13, another number I am very attached to, for what I have to admit was a very reasonable price, all things considered. (Still more than I’d ever paid for something in my life, though!) When he arrived, I found he was extra special — Melody had written, “This one is GOOD luck!” in a word bubble above the griffin logo on his underside, along with the signature and number! So he is my special, lucky dragon; one of only a few of my Windstones to bear names. His is “Valkyrior,” because his colors look like the aurora borealis, and he also has special dragon jewelry to wear on the shelf so that the others can be envious of his high status. Words can’t describe how beautiful he is and how attached to him I am!
Interested in buying or trading for: GB Pebble Sitting Red Fox in dark grey, Lap Dragon Test Paints (Water Sprite, Glacial Pearl, Opulence, Pastel Rainbow, and many others - see my Classifieds ad), Blue Morpho OW, GB Pebble Loaf dragons in blue/aqua/teal, and Griffin Test Paints (Black Rainbow or Frosted Jade).
June 1, 2009 at 10:15 pm #763965OH, he’s beautiful! I would save him from a burning building too. Aren’t the Orientals lovely? I have a dark peacock Young, and a light peacock Sun. (Thanks Pixie-Dust! :D)
June 1, 2009 at 11:14 pm #763966Well, that’s a loaded question.
Like many here, my “favorites” change over time. But as it has been said before, if the house was burning down and all my family was safe and I could rush in a grab one or two it would have to be my unicorns. White Grand and White Mother.
