if they smelled strong enough to give Nirvana a migrane then he should have smelled it before he listed them
Please don’t mistake me for giving them an excuse. I think they should have said that they smoked, ect. I personally have an entire area of the attic for “smoking” peices, because I develope a huge rash and get really sick.(I don’t spend a lot of time with mom for that reason). I was simply saying, some smokers seem to think the entire world smokes, or they just don’t think about it? I’m not sure. but I surely am *not* making an excuse for the smell. Simply saying they may not smell it themself.
March 28, 2007 at 1:08 am #556271smokers become ammune to the smell
March 28, 2007 at 1:25 am #556272Sorry to hear this, Nirvanacat. I’d be rather upset too if something was listed as coming from a “smoke free environment” and smelled of smoke (even if it was just from his poor choice in boxes).
I’m glad the seller is being cooperative and I hope this was just an honest mistake on his part.
March 28, 2007 at 1:30 am #556273My consolations… I bid on them too. Is there anything that can be done to improve the color if it’s smoke damage? Maybe some gentle cleaner? I really don’t know as I don’t smoke or really know anyone who does.
March 28, 2007 at 12:48 pm #556274The smoke smell dissapates, but I dont think there is any way to get rid of the yellow 😕 Sorry Nirvana. Hopefully its just the boxes. My mother dragon is more yellow than white. I dont know if its from paint or cuz my brother smoked when he had her. It was over 10 years ago, so I have no idea.
March 28, 2007 at 2:03 pm #556275hmm well I live in a smokers house … and it’s reeeeaaally bad on plastic ponies. on a windstone the worst is the felt i suspect, and a gentle fabreezing may go a long way. in my house i cannot tell the smoke i do not smoke but others do. if i am away long enough i get sick when i come back from it.
when i get soemthing uber valuable, or just special, i try for pairs one that i keep smoke free, for the day i move out. direct sunlight can go aloooong ways to cleaning up the smell and whiten plastic ponies i dont’ know about windstones paint tho
March 28, 2007 at 3:28 pm #556276Gee darn it! I hate that!! I’ve been having a terrible time as well on Ebay for crud like that. They always say, “it didn’t smell like smoke!” They must be missing a nose. They should full refund all your money including shipping both ways. It’s amazing how many people don’t get that they need to reveal things like that when asked about it! My sympathies to you Nirvana. 👿
March 28, 2007 at 4:11 pm #556277smokers will loose their sense of smell and may not pick up on scents that others pick up on
March 29, 2007 at 6:28 am #556278Its really simple, though. If you smoke in your house, your Windstones smell like smoke. There is no stopping it.

Actually there’s a psychological reason for it. (*tries to use stuff she learned in class this semester*) its a feature built into your brain, that when you enter into an environment/house that, for example, a smoker lives in, at first of course you notice the semell, it registers in your brain. But 5 minutes have passed, and instead of your nose constantly sending a signal to your brain every second “Hey…still smells like smoke…hey still smells like smoke…hey still smells like…” (you get the picture) it realizes that the stimuli is unchanging, and stops sending signals to your brain.
Same for people who live with lots of animals who aren’t house broken. Their owners are oblivious but guests wonder how they can stand to stay in the house. Just like, if you ever stay at a hotel or friend’s house, anywhere but home, you can actually “smell your house” on the stuff you brought wtih you, because in the new environment, “house” smell (good OR bad), is different than the place you’re at.
So there 8) lol
But even if he doesn’t smoke, and got the boxes from his work, he should have noticed the smell, and at least wrapped them in plastic or something 😕 -
