Its already way up there! Good job! I honestly think it looks nothing like the production. I think you are fine and perhaps we should all stop panicking till there is somthing to panic about. 🙂
I think the reason I’m starting to get paranoid is there are a couple of things I never thought would be a problem, that I was then told were a problem! So once you’ve been surprised like that once or twice, you’re sometimes a little twitchy about it after that. (Like not re-painting production pieces, which I would have thought they wouldn’t mind at all, and like this gold trim thing, which STILL makes no sense at all to me, what exactly you are and aren’t supposed to be able to do.)
January 30, 2007 at 7:33 am #533838Holy ****! I haven’t even checked since it was at like 61 bucks or something like that! WOOHOO! Maybe I’ll finially get close to the amount Watergazer gets for something, LOL! I’m happy though. I can definatly use the money…even if I have to give up my precious black draggie.
Well, I’m sure Nam or Melody will post about it when they get back. It can’t be that the gold trim is copyrighted, it’s such a common idea and so many other artists do it that it’s almost impossible. I know Michael Whelan and Julie Bell both do it as well (gold claws, horns, spines & such) I can understand the paint jobs though, or a combination of the gold with a similar paint job to a production Windstone. That one auction with the “secret keeper pyo” was crossing the line because it was basically a duplicate of a Windstone paint scheme. Not only that, but it broadcasted it all over the listing with pics of a SK. Honestly, I don’t think this looks like a Windstone paint scheme at all. Wouldn’t it have not been approved to be in the gallery if that was the case? *shrug* Ski’s right. I think everyone is getting entirely too worked up about this. I’m just doing my normal thing until I hear what’s going on from Mel, Nam, or John. I’m sure they will clarify when they have a moment.

January 30, 2007 at 2:07 pm #533840I personally think the gold trim “infringement” is a little over the top. I think that since they’ve never made these PYO in a production color and no paint scheme can be associated with them you can’t say “Oh, the head scales trimmed in gold is a trademark of Windstone- you can’t do that.” Like drag0nfeathers said so many other artists do veining in gold or silver or copper or what have you.
January 30, 2007 at 2:30 pm #533841I also think that you can and should be able to repaint stuff that was broken as long as you clearly label that it is a repaint. After all we own them, and we are not tring to resell as real peices. Nor are we making them in bulk, like those German sellers. I think a direct copy is one thing…but painting on some gold accents or using interference is not a copyright thing…after all its in the tutorial on how to paint them.
Using the photo from the SK auction and doing an exact copy…that was the problem.
I plan to keep doing repaints when I get old broken pieces…and as long as I don’t claim they are windstone, nor that I made the sculpture itself, it should be fine. I sold my last repaints with no problem.
Broken things need some new life! 🙂January 30, 2007 at 3:47 pm #533842I think whippet’s repaints are great. Nobody likes an old beat-up dragon, but it would still be a pity to just trash them.
January 30, 2007 at 4:19 pm #533843I hope this goes for a good price. You deserve a lot more than you’ve gotten for your posted auctions from what I recall. I hope they don’t have to pull this auction but the colors are differently placed…the BEP old warrior has it’s color set placed differently. I hope it won’t need to be pulled.
I am terribly sorry to hear about your kitty and have been following that thread. If you want to sell my painted piece you have you can feel free if you need to pay the bills. I’ll always be here and can do another for you anytime. My painting skills have improved since then too so it could be better than the original one you got.
January 30, 2007 at 5:27 pm #533844*clutches Water’s tiger griffin PYO* NEVER! I know it was your first griffin and you’ve probably improved quite alot since then, but chances are I most likely won’t get another one from you. At least not another griffin. I LOVE this griffin. I’d never sell it unless I had no other choice and I still have pleant of griffs of my own if that was the case. I COULDN’T BELIEVE that your red and silver dragon went so low! I was so pissed at myself for not bidding on it! I was sure it would bolt up in the last 5 minutes like most of your auctions and I just missed it by like 4 minutes cause I was eating chinese food! ARGH! Curse those crab rangoons! They’re so tasty! If I can afford the pink wolf I am going to bid on that! I LOVE her, but if I won she’s going to need some rhinestone surgery, LOL!
And like I said before, I really don’t think my auction can get pulled. I mean, it doesn’t look like any other Windstone paint scheme. I could understand the gold if the scales were flat and I just made it look like that, but I put god on all the small, sculpted details where anyone would, even if you had never seen a Windstone before.

You’ve got kitty bills to pay that not many people would do (certain folks who don’t see animals as worth that type of money), so it’s awesome to see you love your cat that much and go all out to help it. You’re amazing as a person and a fellow painter.

I went out to walk the G*SH D%RN dogs and then one had to go and POOP 😯 I missed the end by about 2 min. I WAS STEAMED!!! Esp when I saw what it went for 😡
January 30, 2007 at 6:14 pm #533847😆 😆 Is that poor dog going to bed with no dinner tonight?

Aww, no worries! I just try and treat everyone the way I’d want to be treated myself I guess. I think your paint jobs are AMAZING! I only hope I can eventually paint as good as you and get decent prices on ebay. As a rule, I don’t usually try to live on my artwork (since it’s so hard in this area to find anyone who appreciates it and will pay for it), but since I got laid off I haven’t had much of a choice. I was a bit dissappointed when my Fire Kirin went for just over 60 bucks, the Bubbas Dragon was the best I’ve done so far, but that was thanks to nessiemom. If it wasn’t for Arlla constantly supporting me I probably would have given up by now! LOL! Once I get a new job, chances are once I get another consistant full time job I’ll only do comission work.

Guess I really should keep bidding at the very beginning in case stuff like this happens.
GB, If I didnt feed them, they would sit in front of me and stare. If I ignore them, they both (I dont know how they coordinate this) get up and spin in a circle at the same time then sit back down and continue the STARE 😯 <-like that
January 30, 2007 at 7:03 pm #533851Hahahaha! That must be hilarious! Can you make a movie and post it?
