OK…I’ve been getting Windstones from ebay alot recently…thanks to you guys, so I want to know which method of shipping is best for getting them safely home. Is there a difference in how each company handles its packages. So which company do you guys go with:
    United States Postal Service (USPS)
    FedEX
    UPS
or any other that comes to mind. Any that you have much success with? I’m always paranoid now after winning the auction, from hearing all the horror stories, and I keep thinking I should be happy 😕

Everyone has there own preference. I for one can’t stand UPS or Fedex!

I ALWAYS prefer USPS. It seems to work the best for me.

Every shipping company has their faults. It comes down to packing. If they aren’t packed right then it’ll get broken no matter what. I’ve watched UPS deliveries get thrown around all the time. USPS does the same, and I bet so does FedEx. I always pack my box as if it was going to be thrown. (Since it more than likely will.)

I use Fedex and never had a problem….one or two things have gotten broken…but were paid for right away by Fedex….

here they are NOT allowed to throw or handle anything roughly…but a few people on the forum have said their fedex guy has tossed packages…so apparently it happens everywhere…

I prefer USPS because it is *generally* cheaper, also my mailman will usually bring insured packages like those to my door for me to sign right away.

UPS would be my next option because again I have to sign for all of their packages. I just hate the fact they deliver to me after 5 p.m. every time.

FedEx is my last choice. I don’t like the fact they they just do “dump and run”. They don’t ring my door bell/knock on my door or have me sign anything. I’d worry about someone taking the package before I got to it if I wasn’t at home all day.

          For me… UPS every time.

The problem. My address is 117 Nottingham and the guy at the front of my street is 117 Exeter. His house is on a corner and his mail box is on my street.

I live in a rural area and the Post Office mixes my mail up almost weekly. I have even complained to the postmaster. They just can not seem to deliver my mail to me.

Even Dominos Pizza goes to the wrong house…even when I tell them…..

UPS actually put a note in their system and they get it right 99% of the time and don’t damage packages as much as the post office….

They are usually cheaper than Priority mail and they give a tracking number and free insurance up to $100

          I LOVE MY UPS GUYS!!!!

Hehehe, one of the guys was at the gas station today…I asked him if he had a package for me…he said he would stop by later if he did. Sure enough, he pops buy at 5:30 and as he was going back to his truck, I opened the door and yelled “Thank You”

He said…”You are Welcome Miss Kaya”….in the South that is the way you respect people…saying Ms or Mister and the first name…..

God…I hate to rant…but I just LOVE MY UPS GUYS!!!! They are #1 !!!!!!

see here it’s the exact opposite…UPS throws it at the porch about half way to the porch…lol

and Fedex comes right up and rings the bell and waits….

My UPS guys place it neatly on the front or back porche, depending on the weather…

My back porch has ten dogs viciously trying to break through the fence…so unless the weather is bad…they come to the front.

They ring the bell and run back to the truck. But I am nice to them and always say thanks…etc..I am in a smaller town 🙂

Love em…and they are all cute to top it off!

They aren’t supposed to here either. I’ve seen all sorts of stuff. But, I guess, the reason I hate UPS is when I had my buisness sometimes my supplies would come in by them. They were the rudest bunch of morons! The UPS person that delivers to my home though is very nice. But, I’m never home during the day. UPS gives you three days, if you can’t get it in three days it goes back to the seller. (Sometimes they just end up where ever unclaimed packages go.)

But, I know a person who works for Canadapost. She says never put fragile on the box. Or do not bend. If they see that they will try their best to destroy them. See the union is very good. They never get in trouble. If they do it’s just a slap on the wrist.

I was thinking he had another package to give you!! 😉 where is that bug porn when you need it??
UPS will not deliver to my complex unless I sign for what they bring and I’m NEVER home when the try to deliver, they say they have too many packages stolen in condo complexes. I prefer to have things sent USPS signature required so I have to go to the post office to get them in person

Since it seems to be different everywhere, DROGO, I’d suggest just getting the sellers themselves to pack your purchases bomb-proof, and then experiment. Use a different company each time and see what happens. You’ll find out soon enough which carriers are best in your area.

Wow, that’s a hard question. Mostly because everyone lives somewhere different, and each mail/package office is different.

I’ve had 2 things broken through postal mail, but both times they weren’t packed well enough for the weight, size, and shape of the piece (normal loading/unloading would’ve done it). I don’t use UPS often because they’re SO variable with delivery times in my neighborhood (I’ve had 10am and 8pm, & everything in between). I’ve never opted for Fedex when given the option, so can’t say much there.

For my area, honestly, I think UPS is better. I don’t know if my delivery person varies often, but they’re most likely to put it in between my screen door & normal door (if it fits), or try to cover it with my doormat. With clothing items from QVC in giant bright yellow bags, that’s a wonderful thing.
I’ve had a box through USPS put on my mailbox lid (lowered), in the snow, and it (and the rest of my mail) was soaked all the way through by the time I got home from work. My mailbox is 5 feet away from my covered front door. I wasn’t impressed (but I don’t have that carrier anymore).
That being said though, I usually choose USPS anyway since they often have faster shipping times for the money. Plus, if something needs a signature & I’m not home, their hours are better for me to try to pick it up.

Horror stories exist for all methods of shipping. Unfortunately, it’s all a gamble since humans are responsible for transit. You just have to try each out & see what’s best for your area. And hope the idiots responsible for getting it that far aren’t too bad. 😕

Well I just won an auction last night and the seller was supposed to send by UPS, but for some reason I got an email from DHL, with a tracking number that doesn’t work yet… 😕
