Wow! Seeing where everyone is from and live is actually really interesting!
Here is where I am. Born and raised basically all my life.
It’s funny, the photo of the Green (Taunton Center) here is SO OLD!!! The War Memorial was moved so many years ago by out old courthouse on the other side and it’s in the photo still. Now that whole area is full of buildings. It almost looks rural in the photo… so weird.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taunton,_MA
These are more like it. This is what the green looks like now. I drive through here almost every day.

Our old courthouse, the building is still there, but now we use a new courthouse they just built down the street.
Our mall, LOL

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spring,_Texas… and I’ve lived within 10 miles north or south of it most of my life. This area was originally settled by Germans, so there is a lot of “German residue” left over. My elementry school was called “Mittelstädt” and my high school’s name is “Klein” which ironically means “little” in german, but there were over 4,000 students in the school when I was there 2000-2004. They recently added on a 3 story building for more classes O.O Its the biggest high school in the area-maybe in Texas.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klein_High_School
There is a list of famous Klein graduates on that page-Ben Rappaport-I remember him! I didn’t know him, but I had heard of him. Apparantly he made it to TV’s Outsourced! ha!Since I moved out of my parents house, I’ve moved farther south in towards the inner city and I love it where I am at now. There’s a Krogers, Whataburger, Sushi house, Starbucks, IHOP, Korean restaraunt, 3 different banks, Jamba Juice, Nail Salon, Chipotle burritos, Chili’s, Applebees, UPS, movie theater, 3 gas stations, CVS, liquor store….I could go on and on…..all within walking distance 😀 Of course most of Houston isn’t a “walking friendly” city-its spread out so everyone drives everywhere.
When I was really little, younger than 4 years old, I lived with my Grandmother in Powderly, Tx, a suburb of Paris, Texas (yes, they have an Eiffel Tower too!)

Littleironhorse-WOW there’s only 45 people who are bilingual in your city? Thats a really specific amount. I guess you are one of them? haha

The way it’s written is a bit misleading. LOL
What it means if that there are 45 people who claim both languages as their “first/maternal” language. For example my cousins who’s father is Irish and mother French Canadian, grew up learning and speaking both languages equally.
It doesn’t really mean how many people (children and adults) who are bilingual. 😉
January 12, 2012 at 8:35 pm #868961I was born here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riverside,_California
And practically right after I was born, we moved to:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpokaneBut we soon moved to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fountain_Hills
where I have been for the past 18 or 19 some odd years (I’ve watched it “grow up”). I hate it more than you could imagine. The town is beautiful, yes, but it’s more of a retirement community now and as such (and because of this, no one knows how to drive), there is zero to do around here. You have to drive 30+ minutes if you want to do anything of interest. And there is NOTHING for the younger crowd (kids, teens, etc). Seriously, any time a petition comes up to add something for the younger crowd, it gets shot down.I hope to move back to Washington some day. Not Spokane, but rather the Seattle area. I’m a rain and cloudy day kind of person, so that’s another reason I rather hate where I am now. It’s all sun and heat here. Two things I haaaaate.
My dad and I are looking to move soon. He wants to move to San Diego or Austin Texas to be near family. But can’t afford San Diego, though that’s where he really wants to move. And I hate California. I’d rather move to Austin Texas where my brother is and my ferrets won’t be fugitives.

November 15, 2015 at 6:21 pm #937123Bump – just for fun. We’ve picked up a lot of new members since 2012!
November 15, 2015 at 10:35 pm #937135Hmm, I didn’t contribute back then.
I was born in Fort Lauderdale FL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Lauderdale,_Florida
We lived in a couple of suburbs; Pompano Beach until I was 4 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pompano_Beach,_Florida
Then inland in North Lauderdale until I was almost 15 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_Lauderdale,_FloridaThen, my mom,who was born to an old settler family in Portland ME, decided to return there- a few miles out in West Buxton, so that’s where I graduated high school… hmm, can’t find West Buxton (by the falls), but here’s Buxton https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buxton,_Maine
But I missed my home, so after graduating and a brief stop in Montevallo AL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montevallo,_Alabama chasing a job, I returned to Florida. I had an aunt in the Orlando area, which made it easy to start there. I’ve been stuck in Sanford FL ever since. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanford,_Florida
I’ve been wanting to return to South Florida since I left it, but it’s never been in the budget. Maybe some day. Always wanted to live in the Keys or extreme southern part of the peninsula.
November 15, 2015 at 11:32 pm #937142I was born in Ridgecrest, CA, and grew up in the Antelope Valley. My family first moved to Lancaster, and when
I was 7, we moved to Palmdale. And when I was 15, we moved to Rosamond to be closer to my mom’s job. She worked under a contract at Edwards Air Force Base as an X-Ray Tech. She no longer works there now, but we actually built our house here, and live on 10 acres next to a horse breeder. I volunteered here for a couple months during the summer of 2009, and had an amazing encounter with a huge male jaguar. We also live near the Willow Springs International Raceway, and there are so many cool cars around!! Up until I was 13, my family would go to Hong Kong for a month at least every other year to visit family.↞↞≪∙ FOREVER SEEKING •↟•

Well they did move here for that until the recent recession where a lot of people in the oil industry have since lost jobs unfortunately. It has lots of things to do and lots of people like it here. I can’t compare it to too many other cities though. I don’t like the cold winters but I do like the hot summers and Chinook winds we get in the winter. I like being less than an hour drive to the mountains for hiking and camping.
This is where my dad and I used to go camping every summer and swim in the lakes in beautiful Kelowna, B.C. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelowna It’s a small city, quite hot in the summer and has tons of orchards of fruit like cherries and peaches! The lakes are cold but fun to swim and boat in! I haven’t been there in the winter but don’t think it gets that cold compared to Calgary.

November 26, 2015 at 2:37 am #937497I was born and raised in Carmichael, CA. I moved here to Colorado Springs, CO at age 19 in 2006 to be with my boyfriend I’d met online in a car chatroom a couple of years before (and we had been visiting each other back and forth), and he’s now my husband.
I miss CA so much it’s not even funny! Although I really dislike CO weather, I don’t openly complain about it all that much. One time when I did make a post about it on Facebook, my aunt (in CA) said something to the effect of “Hey, you chose Colorado!” I responded, “No, I did not choose Colorado over California- I chose Christopher!”
Where I lived was pretty much perfect. People assume I experienced earthquakes or fires, but I never experienced any of those things. California’s a big state, folks. I’ve been much closer to wildfires here than I ever was there! And tornadoes and… yeah. Yikes. Let’s not even start about the winter weather here or the fact that pretty much the only rain here is nasty summer rain. It thunderstorms all summer here in the afternoons. Is that frickin’ crazy or what?!
In CA I wasn’t in a particularly big city but not a small town either. Carmichael is near Sacramento (in fact I was right on the border of Sacramento county). It was busy enough and we had plenty of everything you’d expect. My family had 3 acres and horses but we were not out on the outskirts or anything.
I’d love to move back to the area one day, but my husband doesn’t want to. It’s definitely not worth divorcing, lol. I try not to think much about how much I don’t like it here or I could just totally end up stewing about it, lol. At least it’s a bit more affordable to live here!
