I am not a typical shopper. We all dress in rags, each owns one pair of shoes and we eat out several times a week to avoid grocery shopping. My favorite place to shop is in China town, here, in Los Angeles, but all I ever buy are toys. I avoid pet stores the way a recovering alcoholic avoids a bar. I did recently go into a Buy Mart in Corvallis and gawked at the towels. They didn’t have those dangley tatters on the edges! I forgot new towels don’t have those. Someday I will buy a towel rack too. Last year, our big purchase was a new shower curtain.

Oooh you eat out alot? Whats your favorite restaurant? I adore Olive Garden and Applebees.
April 17, 2008 at 5:01 pm #690692I too hate shopping. I only have 4 pairs of shoes… three of those were gifts from my mother in law because apparently you are not a woman unless you have lots of shoes (What??!). Over 90% of my clothing is at least 3-5 years old, with many articles being the same that I wore in school (it’s been 8+ years since I graduated!).
Clothes shopping (or shopping for a new pair of sneakers) is about the worst thing you can do to me. I have nightmares of getting dragged clothes shopping. Horrible.
Wal-Marts, Pier 1, Old Navy, Kiohls… all those chain stores- they are really boring to me. When I get dragged into one I feel like a zombie- no longer alive but forced to endure! π Okay a bit extreme, but I really don’t like those stores… yuck.
About the only type of store I enjoy going into is an art supply store, and I get a little too excited. I love looking at the paper textures and imagining what I could do with them. It’s too bad there are none around here.
I like internet shopping, I am ashamed to admit. Because then you can just look at what you want and ignore the rest. I mostly only shop for supplies though. And toys, sometimes. I’m a perpetual 3rd-grader.

Again with the free smells….aaaahhh paper…..turpentine….I also love craft stores with all kinds of beads and fake silk plants and little wooden boxes, glitter, pipe cleaners, that’s my new shoes.
April 17, 2008 at 5:45 pm #690694I love knick knack stores, feed stores, craft stores, candle shops, antique stores, furniture stores, garden and pond stores. I hate clothes shopping. My wardrobe consists of jeans and t-shirts.
My worst horror is shoe shopping, which is why my shoes are falling off my feet! π
I also like hardware stores.April 17, 2008 at 5:52 pm #690695For me, I can spend a day in a good Border’s Book Store. There’s nothing like perusing the books and sitting down with one that grabs my interest to read it for a while. π Do NOT, repeat, do NOT, turn me loose in a crafts store!!! I can lose my wallet in Michael’s faster than I’d buy a Windstone!! π Since I am not fond of clothes shopping either, I try to limit it to when my clothes are too old. I still wear clothes from high school, so I don’t know if that is a good system or not. Saves me money, though. π Shoe shopping isn’t so bad. I’ve found that outlets are a great place to buy shoes ever since I went into Nordstrom’s (where I formerly used to buy shoes) and saw those horrible tennis shoe heels!! πΏ I could also lose my wallet in a Fry’s. I love to video game shop! π
April 17, 2008 at 5:53 pm #690696I love shoes… I must be the forum freak. π I have about 50 pairs of shoes.
I also love clothes. Way too many clothes. I need to sort out closets this summer.
I love to shop at New York & Co, Fashion Bug, TJ Maxx β , and JCPenneys. I also like Kohl’s sometimes, but it’s hit or miss with me there.
I also love to browse office supply stores, like Office Max or Office Depot. I like organizers for office stuff, and binders, and pens, etc. Shoe organizers, closet organizers, Rubbermaid bins, totes, etc. I really am a freak, aren’t I?
I also love old books and like to browse antique stores and used/rare bookstores.
Craft stores make me frustrated. I see all sorts of great things that I would love to do something with, but my creative curve isn’t very high. I usually end up sitting on craft stuff for years and eventually sell it in a garage sale. I don’t bother going any more unless I’m looking for something specific.
