    it happens 😥

I remember reading and seeing drglvr’s curio catastrophe. I felt for her. I couldn’t imagine if that happened to me.

I had been unpacking my Windstones. Last night I put Jen’s Labradorite Male Griffin on top the top curio shelf along with my New Zombie Dragon. I put some of my griffin families on the next. The middle shelf had a note on it saying not to put a heavy load on it so I left it. under it I put my Purple Dragon family and the Black Griffin sunset family. The middle pin came loose and landed on my purple dragons and black griffins. They are destroyed. Only the mother dragon survived.

I am thankful that none of my ebay pieces were destroyed. I couldn’t imagine if I lost Jens Labradorite Griffin, or my Tiger Griffin family. I am still very shaken and upset. I love these creatures. They are like my little fantasy family. I don’t have the heart to throw them away. I want to go and burn that stupid Curio 👿
I don’t know where to put my collection now.

Oh no! I’m so sorry. It’s such a heartbreak when this happens. I know they’re just “things” but they mean so much to us. You should see if one of the talented people on the forums can fix them. 🙁

Ugh.. god honey I am so so sorry for you 🙁 *hugs* I’m sure that if you are willing, there are some people on the forums that do an amazing job of fixing pieces that have been broken – I’m not an expert in that area so I wouldn’t do you any good to volunteer.

I am glad that your most prized pieces are OK though. I have all of my small collection on two book shelves at home, and I’m constantly feeling the bottom to make sure that the pins are in, and secure and it doesn’t feel like too much weight. I can’t imagine how I would feel if it happened to me, but just hearing it about yours (and drgnlvr’s) has made my heart drop.

Griffinlover, I so sorry to hear about your babies! I second what others have said, they need to go to the Windstone doctors! I’m sure they can be saved. Thank god the beautiful Labradorite Griffin and your other special pieces weren’t damaged.

Oh man! Thankfully it wasn’t one of the ebay pieces, and those could be fixed easily enough. *whew*

This is why I’m sticking to wood shelves, save my very small curio (still has wood supports for the glass) that only houses small curlies and such. I just don’t trust the glass shelves and their pins for long-term storage.

When I see these posts I’m glad I don’t keep my windstones in curios. I’ve never trusted anything with glass shelving because I know glass fractures over time from pressure no matter what (comes from cutting glass for stained glass windows).

I keep my windstones in this: http://www.amazon.com/Estes-Park-Three-Barister-Bookcase/dp/B000VW31LC and I added lighting on the inside, like a curio. The shelves are solid wood and even a shelf full of emperors probably wouldnt bring them down. The only thing that doesnt fit is a SK.

Oh my goodness! I so sorry this happened to you *hugs*. I can’t even imagine your heartache. This is one of my biggest fears.
Even as sad as this is, at least none of your ebay babies got damaged. Hopefully once you can get over the initial shock, you can figure a way to get the broken ones repaired?

Oh, Griffinlover, that’s heartbreaking! My dad just got me a new gorgeous curio yesterday to display my tiny collection of ebay pieces. After seeing these pictures and drglvr’s I’m terrified to set it up myself! (It’s better than the Walmart bookcase they’re on now though)

                Ohhhh noooo I’m so sorry!

I wish there was something I could say to make everything alright. My thoughts are with you. **Hugs**

😥 Hugs, Griffinlover… I hope some of them can be repaired. 😥

I think I could fix some…If you ship some of them to me, I can work on repairing them in-between my other projects. Apoxi Sculpt works wonders. I used it on my two small flap cats, and no one is the wiser. When completely hardened, it has the same texture and density of the mineral cast that Windstone uses. It carves, and etches the very same. …AND it stays put permanently unlike super glue. The bond is perfectly secure.

Since I know shipping costs are high on such heavy items, that I would only charge for labor cost. I can even repaint the mended sections, to match the original paint, if you wanted, or I can leave that part up to you.

I’m so sorry for the mishap, and all your precious lovelies… 🙁

We should have a memorial thread for these sort of catastrophies! squeek* squeek* squeek*
