😆 I’m using this thread as an outlet right now. So don’t mind me, I just need to get these things out.
Well, I have one less money stress right now. Maybe. I need to re-order my syrums for my allergy shots. It’s a little over $400. This morning I went to get my shots and I told the RN that gives them to me about this. She recomended that I don’t pay for them yet. Get re-tested and see if I even still need them. I might not need them, but, my fear is that I need a new dose. Either higher or lower. This will cost me more. I’ll have to get the starter syrums, the middle syrums and the full dose syrums. I hope that I’m now immune to the things I get the shots for.
So, I made an appointment for the test. But, I need to wait until next Tuesday since I took an allegra this morning. So for the next week I can’t take any allergy meds (if I was on a puffer then I’d be able to use it. But anything else is off limits.) I hope I remember since I take them as I need them. So, who knows I might be really miserable this week. I’ve had almost non stop migrains because of the weather. Oh well, at least I can save some money there. (I really hope so)
Then there is the fact that I can’t seem to land a job right now. I’m trying so hard too. I’ll see what’s open in the mall where I work, but, that is a very small hope.
I might just have to re-open a buisness and apply at Bark n Fitz…. I don’t want to but, at least I’ll be making pretty good money again. 😕
February 6, 2008 at 2:56 am #660495Oy, I feel for you. My allergies were insane last year. I’m down to just an inhaler for bad times and Tylenol allergy if I’m feeling really horrible. I lucked out, my bf’s health benefits from work cover my meds too. Two years ago when he was working freelance with no coverage at all, I was running $500-$600 a month.

I take it, this is something you used to do? 😕

😆 They just opened a buisness in Waterloo, and they are looking for a dog groomer (um, or maybe a pet groomer)
Anyways, yes I owned a dog grooming buisness. Places contract a groomer they don’t hire them. It makes the groomer work for the money. If they are paid by the hour instead of by the animal then they might only take in one dog and spend 6 hours grooming it. I don’t know of any dog that takes that long….(except breeds with dreads, they take days not hours to groom.) Plus, I think then the groomer can make more an hour then they would have been paid if they were hired.
February 7, 2008 at 12:02 am #660498Is there a reason why you wouldn’t want to do this again? 😕

Short answer, I could, I just can’t really afford to.
Long answerrant:
~~~~Start of Rant~~~~
Well, unfortunatly I don’t like dog grooming that much anymore. I did love some of the dogs, as well as their owners. It costs alot of money to start up a buisness. Dog grooming is no exception. When I started up the first time I blew $6000 on my buisness, that didn’t even get me everything I needed. I cut corners, I made my own grooming tables. (That saved me about $1000, if I got the kind of table I wanted.)What I don’t miss the most, I don’t miss the prickly hair that stuck everywhere. I have many tweezers that I used to pluck hairs from the weirdest places. I don’t miss the dryers. They are loud, I should have used ear plugs…. but, I found that people would show up when I’m drying a dog, and expect me to answer questions. (Believe me, if you need to ask a groomer alot of questions just don’t show up. They often don’t have time to stop everything and talk.)
I don’t miss the customers that think because they decided to grace my buisness once a year to get their dirty matted dog shaved, that I owe my whole buisness to them. The ones I miss came every 3-8 weeks. They are the ones that pay the bills. I don’t miss the people that think winter means no hair cuts. Well, most dogs stay inside just like us and go out just to get excercise and use their potties. They still need groomed in the Winter.
What I hated most about grooming? I hated shaving dogs. I didn’t start grooming to make a dog look bad. Or, to dematt them and hurt them. It was a dirty, discusting, underpaid, underappreciated job. Winters were bad since I (and others) needed to learn to cook with a very limited budget. There were months where it was oh look PB&J again. Since that was all I could afford. My favorite line “Oh, you are so lucky to play with puppies all day!” 🙄 😆
But, all in all, I did actually love dog grooming. It was just every spring I would do the whole “I’m walking out that door and I’m never coming back!” I always did come back. I still aspire to get my master certified licence. It’s just not top priority right now.
I would go back if I wouldn’t have to buy everything again. Plus, I don’t know just how baddly my “friend” smeared my name after I left her buisness. She used me as a scapegoat.
~~~~~ End Rant ~~~~~That and I’m really out of practice. 😆
February 10, 2008 at 12:16 am #660500And my little personal log continues. Well, still no second job. Next week I was cut down to 12 hours. I have a feeling that if my co-worker wasn’t off for three days next week that I’d have only worked 8 hours.
Today I got a call from my co-worker apparently something major happened yesterday (or today, I’m not sure) and I’ve been called in for an extra shift. (Why my co-worker called and not a supervisor or manager, I’m not sure.) I made sure when she called if it was approved and Kim had approved it. Yay! So, about 4 extra hours. (It’s not enough but, it’s better than 12!) This time I will have Nothing done for month end. I have absolutely no time to do it.
Then there is the extra paperwork that was dumped on me that the checkout supervisor is supposed to do. I’m not there everyday anymore, how am I supposed to do it? I’ve just been dumping them unchecked in the supervisors bin. Oh well, it’s about time they start looking after their own paperwork again.
Tuesday, I have the pleasure of an allergy test. I just have to figure out exactly where the allergy speciallist is. He’s on King Street. Good, now where on King? King basically extends from St. Jacobs through Waterloo and Kitchener and ends somewhere in Cambridge! 😆 But, if I have the correct address then he’s less than 5 min. away from where I live. Nice, I just have to scour down town Kitchener. Not that hard to do, it’s only about 10 blocks. 😆 I’m still not looking forward to it though. The upper back, I’m fine but, the lower back? It hurts just a bit since I’m slightly tickleish. I don’t miss those tests. I’m in trouble though, I haven’t been keeping a log…. They will want me to get rid of my cats, and my rugs. The rugs, I can’t since I rent. The cats I won’t. They are my babies and I don’t care if they kill me. Put everything behind glass, get the best air purifiers….
Actually, has anyone tried salt lamps? My goodness, they are the best kept secret! They work so well! I swear by them now. I just wish I could have one at work too.
February 10, 2008 at 2:52 am #660501Romeo,I’m so sorry!!! I hope things improve soon. 🙁
I understand why you don’t want to go back to the grooming business. It sounds like a thankless job.
Allergy testing is no fun. I’ve been through that myself….and I’ve taken the shots too. I’m allergic to cats, which means I can’t have any, but fortunately I’m not allergic to dogs. But, if I was, like you, I wouldn’t get rid of them.
Hang in there. Don’t forget we’re here for you!! (hugs)
February 10, 2008 at 4:33 am #660502That really bites Romeo. I used to have to get allergy shots twice a week when I was younger. And everytime I go to my doctor, he tells me I should get rid of my cats. And I tell him no. Sorry you’re having such a hard time finding a job… 😕
February 10, 2008 at 5:53 pm #660503What do salt lamps do, Romeo?
February 10, 2008 at 6:08 pm #660504I’m not familiar with them either. 😕
February 12, 2008 at 4:36 pm #660505Salt lamps are supposed to purify the air. They seem to work for me. Since I’ve gotten mine, I’ve had fewer head aches, and my congestion is alot less. Less coughing is good in my book. 😆
Well, good news bad news.
Good news I’m just about immune to everything but grass now. That’s 2 syrums I don’t have to buy. Great.
Bad news, the doctor ordered all three syrums. I now have to pay for all three. 😮 😯 👿
I’ve had enough bad news, I think I’m going to just igore everything today, and have a stress break. (It’s time to break out the Haggen Daz lol)
February 12, 2008 at 10:21 pm #660506ice cream…now that’s real comfort food!!!! 😆
February 13, 2008 at 12:51 am #660507Is it ever. 😆 (ice cream that is)
Well, I’ve finally got the syrum thing worked out. It’s funny though because everyone denies ordering the syrum in the first place. 🙄 Well, if I didn’t order it, the allergy speciallist didn’t order it, and the doctor didn’t order it who did? (fyi, it was the doctor! I got it straight from the allergy labs. I just hope now I don’t have to pay for 4 syrums. 😆 That would be how my luck is going lately….
February 13, 2008 at 1:01 am #660508Do they give you the shots or do you have to do it yourself? I had to inject my own serum at one point. It was hard…..
