Wow, things are looking very bleak right now. I have a cushion of money that I saved from my Christmas hours but, after next month…. I just don’t know. I may have to sell everything and well I just don’t know. I guess at this point move back home to my parents. My Mom doesn’t want me there. She knows though that I’ll try to find a way, any other way to live without going back home.
I’ve been cut from over 40 hours to 25, now that’s been cut to 13! Who can make ends meet on 13 hours a week? Especially living alone.
I’m sending off resumes but, not many places are hiring. Plus, I probably wouldn’t be guarenteed many hours elsewhere either.
I know theres a new pet store that’s looking for a groomer but, I’d need to open up a new buisness, buy new equiptment, so on. I can’t afford to, even if I wanted to.
If my hours stay at this rate then I’ll be selling everything. So keep an eye on the flea market thread. I was so hoping to not have to do that again. I hope things will look up soon. I’m trying my best to not let it get me down but, at this point I’m failing. 🙁

January 31, 2008 at 12:34 am #660467Oh, this sucks! They’re going to lose all their employees if they keep this up.
Whatever happened to that other job you were looking into at one point?
Read my books! Volume 1 and 2 of A Dragon Medley are available now.

January 31, 2008 at 12:38 am #660469I’m sorry to hear that. Have you tried the vet offices in your area? Some vets will have a groomer/tech. I hope things look up soon.
January 31, 2008 at 12:40 am #660470That’s awful!!! Hang in there! 🙂

I’m looking for a second job. And if I’m lucky a third.

Well, the full timers are getting all hours but, not alot. It’s frustrating for everyone right now, nothing is getting done since no one is on the floor, we don’t have the budget for more than a few cashiers, (that’s where the floor associates are, on cash) and the customers are frustrated since they can’t find any help and the line ups are long.
The other job? I don’t know what happened. Everything was going great in the interview. They seemed like I was a good candidate but, it didn’t work out.

I don’t know where else I’d move. My appartment is cheap. Cheaper than most in the K-W area. Waterloo rent is high since they have the Universities. Kitchener is lower but, not by much.
January 31, 2008 at 1:19 am #660473I hope things get better
January 31, 2008 at 1:19 am #660474Ah, no worries. I’m sending off my resume to a busy groomer. She’s looking for an assistant and a bather brusher. The only thing is she grooms both cats and dogs.
I have a severe allergy to cats. I do get allergy shots but, they are expensive. I was just handed a bill of $410 for my next batch of serums (that’s not spelled right…)
I’ll send it off once I get the email right. Right now it sounds stupid. I need to brush up on my cover letters.

I’d take my allergy meds with me, and also ask her to keep you on dogs only, since you really can’t handle cats due to your allergies. Hopefully she will be willing to work with you. Most groomers don’t do many cats as a rule, so it really shouldn’t be a problem.
Reason being is that most long haired cats are just mean, IME, every persian I ever had to deal with had to be muzzled, and usually knocked out to do anything to it. Mean buggers! Why would anyone want a cat like that?

January 31, 2008 at 2:19 am #660476I’m sorry to hear about your problem. I may be able to offer some advice on your resume and cover letter I’m a vocational rehabilitation counselor and work with disabled people and employers to get the employers to make accommodations to help people get back to work. I also did a lot of direct job placement over the years. I review resumes and cover letters all the time and have alot of experience in writing resumes for people as well. If you would like me to look at your info and offer some suggestions, I’d be more than happy to do that for you. PM me if you’re interested.

No kidding. When I worked for the vet the persians were the worst. But, not all are like that. If only owners would take responsibity for training their cats to be brushed twice a day. (That is required for persians) If they brushed them twice a day then the cat wouldn’t need to be put through so much. And dematting hurts.
Well, tonight I’m giving up. I just printed off my resume and the collums aren’t lining up right. No matter what I do, I can’t get them to line up. I’m freezing, and I have a migrane. I’m going to bed. Hopefully I’ll feel better tomorrow. (No matter what I’ll be off to work. Not only is it my co-workers day off, I really have never been able to afford sick days.)

Thank you so much for the offer. 😀 I might just take you up on that. I’m normally a good writer, I’m just out of practice right now. (That happens when you haven’t needed to apply for anything in 11 years. lol)
