This happens a lot nowadays since it’s so easy to click-save photos/artwork of anything and then resell it. Not only is it stealing, but it can hurt the artist financially and business wise (if a lot of low quality products are sold with your ‘look’ on it, people can start to associate your work with low quality… a very bad thing). It’s easy to click and forget in the quest for the ever elusive dollar that there is a real person on the other end of the art that you could very well be taking money out of their pocket for groceries. Perhaps the worst part of the situation is that visual artists, just like any other skilled artisan (or anyone that has a specialized work skill) invest years upon years of practice, education (be it university or self taught), money and dedication to get where they’re at, and yet most of the time they are struggling financially to make ends meet against a poor market for art. It’s much easier and much more financially stable to be an office or retail worker. It’s a wonder any of us stick with art at all! 😉
In this particular situation John is aware of this and is dealing with it accordingly. Thank you guys as always for keeping a collective eye out for Windstone!! 😀
