I hate yellow, also, but I know why. When I was a kid I wanted my room painted a deep forest green. My parents said I wouldn’t like it – it was too dark – and instead painted the room a bright yellow. I HATED it with a passion. Finally after a couple of years of whining my parents let me paint the room the color I originally wanted. But *sniff* I was scarred emotionally for life against yellow.

(by the way, to this day I always have at least one room painted a deep green – I find it very restful).

I don’t get it – why do parents DO that??! Sure kids are inexperienced in the way of the world, but if they ask for their room to be green, they’re probably going to LIKE it green!! >_< …I must have pent up angst from childhood. ^_^

It’s pretty easy to hate mosquitos (I love most living things, but I just CAN’T stop being revolted by many parasites) but learning a little about them, they don’t seem quite so bad…they drink nectar most of their lives – only the female drinks blood, and only when she needs protein to make her eggs. (the whole disease spreading thing aside, because that IS nasty but not exactly their fault)

Frankie!! 😀 I love Frank Sinatra, though he’s way before my time. Our song, my husband’s and mine, is Fly me to the Moon. ^_^

I don’t know! I love Elvis, I love Bing Crosby. I love everyone else who is incredible. I know Frank Sinatra is incredible but I just can’t stand listening to him. Weird. Hating something like that fascinates me…how can someone hate music as good as that?
So I listen to him whenever I can, and try to figure it out. Usually, if I learn about an artist, I learn to love their art, but so far, no luck.
Do you people ever wonder about what makes you hate something? It is an interesting thing to think about.
Now, why do I hate venitian blinds? I hate yellow too… and game shows.
(My dad worked for Frank Sinatra. He had a lot of respect for his musicality. That is a big compliment, from a studio musician.)

I have thought about some stuff and why I hate it and I have come to the conclusion that it was how I was raised and I saw things that my mom or others hated and then I began to hate them as well. But there are other things that at first when I try them I hate them, but then when I eat or listen to it again then I like it. I have also found out that when I listen to certain music then I have to be in the right mood. When I am angry then I listen to cookie monster music (heavy music and screaming vocals) and when I am calm I listen to classical music, but most of all I listen to Progressive Metal music because most of the time I have mixed feelings.
I love game shows…most of the people you see on there are happy just to be there and try and win money. Is it the money aspect that you hate or is it that you wish you were there?

I hate money. I’m serious. I hate it. This is good if one wishes to be an artist.

They painted your room yellow? Oh, you poor thing. I don’t like bright yellow, but can handle a soft light yellow. I’m totally against orange! Don’t like any shade of it.

And yeah, gnats suck too Ski. Along with ticks and fleas. God, I used to be soooooo terrified of ticks when I was little! My family had a cabin in the mountains in West Virginia, and our dogs would sometimes come in with ticks on them from running in the woods. I was so scared of getting them on me, and getting lyme disease. They creep me out still!

Don’t come to my office then. The whole room is bright yellow. 😆

Yeah, I hate money as well. I also thought of some stuff I do hate…Spiders (but I am learing to like them)/earwigs. I hate when I have pointy boogars and then my bf pinches my nose. I don’t like it when ppl say they are going to do something and then don’t do it. I hate it when bosses look over your shoulder and watch every thing you do. I hate filing. I don’t like rap music.

Oh man! I love yellow, it reminds me of sunshine (well, bright cheery yellow, not heavy machinery/caution tape yellow). 😀 I guess I’m the odd woman out there. I have a love/hate relationship money. I don’t like money for itself, but it sucks when you don’t have enough to pay bills. I have to agree, spiders are higher up on the dislike list. The smaller ones are ok (I know spiders do good things), but the big ones that start running toward you out of nowhere when you move something just creep me out. On the absolute hate list though are cockroaches. I can’t say I ever met one that I liked. And what is up with egg plant?! I know a lot of people like it, but I can’t get past the texture and I’m not crazy about the taste. I don’t like game shows because they are either silly, or they make me anxious (like Deal or No Deal). Most music I’m ok with except too much country or rap. Heavy metal (the cookie monster type) is probably the one I really can’t handle. I find it too distracting to think. Hmm…venetian blinds. They can be practical, but I’m not so keen on them either, although not enough to hate. Not sure how I feel about Frankie, I really haven’t heard enough of his stuff.

To torture our children. We find it fun 😉 😆 Just kidding. They probably think that they wont like it once they see it and it will be alot of work for nothing.

Oh I understand that its not their fault… I am just wondering why they are here in the first place? If I never see another mosquito again, I would be too happy. Stupid mosquitos. 😆

Oh, and cocroaches are gross, too. I agree. And what is up with the way they smell?? No other bug has that particular gross odor.

Funny, if I hated the things that my parents hated and liked what they did then I’d be completely different. I can stand just about any music except reggie, and 80s. During the 80s I was listening to the 60s. I can’t stand cooking onions (my parents love them, and use them all the time). I also dislike icing. I hate money, but I like to have enough to pay the bills. (It’s funny that I hate money since I’m handling it all day 5 to 6 days a week.)

I love snakes even though my mom and grandparents hate snakes. I hate dog hair (try cutting it for 5 years and like it 😆 ) I hate bugs in my appartment, same with spiders. I can’t stand them. I dislike green, I don’t mind green in nature I just can’t use it for decorating. (That’s why you’ll never see a green PYO from me.) Some days I hate people. Other days I tollerate people, I guess I’m just not a people person. That’s probably why I wanted to be a vet tech in a zoo.

It took Sid Vicious and Peter Baumann (of Tangerine Dream fame) doing covers of Sinatra songs to alert me to the fact that Frank Sinatra really was someone whose recordings I ought to have been seriously paying attention to, but had not. I blame my mom’s generation. They liked Sinatra, so I didn’t.

(My dad’s generation, on the other hand – exactly the same generation, as it happens – liked Bix Beiderbecke, so I did too. Go figure.)

The first time I heard about Elvis was from a girl at school who was totally infatuated with him. This was in England, and he was not as big there as in the USA. I thought the girl was a bit crazy, so naturally I didn’t like Elvis.

Years later I encountered the band “Dread Zeppelin”. They performed reggae versions of Led Zeppelin songs, and the lead singer was an Elvis impersonator. I liked Led Zeppelin, and I like reggae, and I liked Dread Zeppelin, so I decided I must also like Elvis Presley.

I don’t actually listen to much by either Sinatra or Elvis, so the rare times that I do hear their work I really enjoy listening to it. I would die very quickly of a diet of just them, though. My tastes run more to Frank Zappa, and Soft Machine.

I like a wide variety of music, including Frank Sinatra and Elvis. I also like Dread Zeppelin. 😀
I used to manage a music store so I got exposed to a lot of variety.

That said, I have to clarify that I really don’t like hard core rap though. I don’t like songs in which the singers/rappers glorify killing people and treating women like property/sex toys instead of people. I also don’t like songs in which they describe sex acts in detail and crude words.

I like hard rock a lot, but I also don’t like songs in which they sing about loving Satan or anything evil. Or they scream and growl so much that I can’t understand what they say (although it may be better if I don’t :)).

                    Colors:
I wanted a pink/rose bedroom when I was little and my mom painted it yellow too. I hated my room throughout all of my childhood. When I moved out into my first apartment I couldn’t paint my room, but I got rose-colored curtains and a rose print bedspread. My mom liked it so much that she changed my old room to look like it and painted it rose. AFTER I moved out. Since my dad passed away, she can’t stand to sleep in her old room any more. She sleeps in my old room that is still rose-colored. Still. After 24 years. Gah! I wish she would have listened to me when I was little.

I’ve lived with yellow for as long as I can remember. The walls of Astral Castle are yellow, and our web site is yellow. My bedroom when I was a kid was yellow. I only discovered my actual favorite color as a result of seeing the movie “Stay” three times in a week. That warm orange-red color that is bandied about as the lighting at the beginning and end. When I get my own padded room, I sure hope it is that color.
