That’s actually how these were made as well ^_^ It takes more time to prep the paint bath then anything else. Plus locating the correct paint. Not just any oil will work. Most of them are hard to find now because they need to be a high solvent content to actually float the right way without getting chunky. Most have been discontinued because of green laws. You also need to change the PH of the water or you’ll just end up with balls of paint bouncing around the water or sinking to the bottom. (although it’s kind of fun to play in the water with the paint… it reminds me of that guy from Terminator 2 when he’s all melted like liquid silver or something)
I used to do this a lot of it back when my mother had the ceramics studio. Mostly little ceramic cow skulls and then I would burn my fingers decorating them with feathers with the hot glue gun. 😆 I wasn’t sure if it would work on gypsum, but it did perfectly! Now I just gotta get the colors down for better results. It’s hard to get a good mix, but I just need a bit more practice and a few more colors to pick from. I bought some the other day although right now, I’m growing quite fond of the Blue Keeper quite a bit.
I just need more PYOS! I think little dragon bellies and the Kirin scales look best. I doubt I’ll do any more Keepers like this.

I’m not a huge fan of marbling personally (I’m picky about what marbled rocks I like too and I don’t care for it in glass usually, but again, that’s just my personal preference), though I do like the kirins more, particularly the white one. With a different color of marbling, I’d probably snag one from you in the future. 🙂 I like the little rainbow kirin too. 🙂
*rubs hands together* I just got 2 PYO dragons, 2 PYO Unicorns and 2 Muses in the mail. 🙂 I have more colors now too so perhaps I can make these new marbled PYOs a bit more skillfully.

beautiful griffin! is it just me or are there a lot of blue griffs lately? i think im going to have to rethink the one i’m planning on…
My commissioner wantsd something ike my diablo griffin, but with blues instead. I have another in the works with some red and aqua in it as well. It’s a lot different from this one.
