Whoa! How rude can you be? I guess they could have been obscene too, but that answer is pretty low.

Thanks, WSC. That made me chuckle. π That’s the kind of response I got too. Well, ebay took care of it.
January 23, 2007 at 4:51 pm #528309I may have to ask that the intro polisy page be more spelled out a little. Should I remove all of my painted PYO images from Deviant Art, for example…because that alone helps support Windstone because people see it and want to buy PYOs of their own and find out more about the company as a promotional tool. I’m afraid if we all start removing our images from galleries, Windstone just gets pushed back into some dark corner again so when you mention Windstone, nobody knows what you’re talking about.
Secondly, the new rule about golden highlghts. Should I remove my green dragon auction because it has gold horns, vlaws, and back ridge tips? I was already emailed by someone who said I was probably violating Windstone’s new policy.
Also, the owner of the little secret keeper PYO auction emailed me and is really totally upset over the whole thing. I didn’t realize who it was but now that I know the artists name outside the ebay seller name I know she really didn’t mean any harm and she feels very bad over all this and wants to let everyone know she apologises deeply for it all.

I think it could be simplified a little….but in the flea market section under silver dragon for sale…I put in my opinion on what John was trying to say…check that out…
January 23, 2007 at 5:04 pm #528311I agree and don’t, with your interpretation, only because I also have to write up contracts and have to think of multiple ways a line can be interpreted…so while I agree I think that’s probably what the policy terms are, they can still be interpreted to mean no gold accents period and no posting of images anywhere else but on the forum boards, period. I don’t want to cause more problems for Windstone, but this has me concerned. I hope Windstone doesn’t get too tired of dealing with legal issues and then quits PYO making.

right…but all legal things are open to interpretation….especially since we are all in different states….and all that…
but like I said I’m gonna do what I’ve been doing…until told otherwise…
January 23, 2007 at 5:13 pm #528313I’m a little concerned that they’d be over-guarding if we weren’t allowed to post photos of PYOs we’ve done, so long as we include the sculpture was from windstone (and maybe even a link to where they could order one), etc.
There’s protective and then there’s Protective!. I’m with dragonfeathers, and frozen in that the gold and silver trim thing, outside of a paint job coincidentally similar to a Windstone color scheme, is a little ludicrous, when you consider all the other dragons out there with gold and silver trim, and how the sculptures, artistically, seem to really need it to make ’em pop sometimes.
So what next? If they highlight a sculpture with black or white, we can’t use those either? A little clarification there, would be nice.

Iknew she would be. She told me when we first started talking on ebay that she won an auction or comissioned you or something along those lines. She’s really a very nice girl and I don’t think she was aware of how serious that paiting that dragon was. I think she was just trying to make a name for herself so she could sell more PYOs.

Well, I didn’t say it to cause problems, I’m just saying it’s a common idea to add a little glamour to a piece to use goldon those areas. Like I said before, if the ridges on the back were not there, and were flat, then yea, you are copying Melody’s idea (as the male and female dragons have smooth back scales, with no ridges, and have gold highlights as if there were) but having the ridges carved right onto them invites a highlight, and gold is just an obvious choice.
I’m going to keep paiting them as I want, but I will just leave something out in gold. Like one will have gold back scales but white clows and horns. Or one will have gold claws and horns, but black wing webs, things like that, until I am told otherwise.
So what next? If they highlight a sculpture with black or white, we can’t use those either? A little clarification there, would be nice.

It just makes me go ‘buh?’
January 23, 2007 at 5:40 pm #528317I also don’t see how gold and silver accents can be prohibited. At least half of my Michael Whelan dragons have gold/silver detailing on their spines and claws. Gold and silver accents are much too common on dragons for them to ever be copyrighted. It’s the combination of the accents with the unique painting style/colors that defines the Windstone look, not the accents alone.
January 23, 2007 at 5:58 pm #528318NP Emerald. It was a bogus thing for them to do, and they didn’t like being called out on it. Too bad for them. Maybe they should think a bit before doing it again. π π π π

the way I see what they are saying as to the pictures on deviant art, etc, is to remove any that are painted like windstones. although, I was talking to Melody and John and they did express concern about photo bucket and such because other people can take and use your images.
