🙄 Check this out. Not technically a fake, but a blatant rip-off just the same.
September 28, 2007 at 7:58 pm #492789September 28, 2007 at 8:05 pm #621597Blatant, indeed! Did you send it to John?
September 28, 2007 at 8:18 pm #621598Not yet. I wondered if anyone else had seen it before.
September 28, 2007 at 8:25 pm #621599Not yet, I don’t think. Please send it to John. 🙂 Thank you guys, all of you, for helping Windstone keep an eye out for these sorts of things!

You’re welcome, Nam 🙂
Let me see, I don’t think I know John’s email. Can someone point me in the right direction? *bats eyelashes * Please?

September 28, 2007 at 9:31 pm #621602Wow, I haven’t seen that one before.
September 28, 2007 at 10:59 pm #621603Hmm… I have dozens of charms like that (not Windstone). All my charms are of copywrited pics… the only one I didn’t think was okay was taken from Red Priest Usada‘s personal stuff on Deviant Art (pretty sure no permission). Other than that, honestly, I never really thought about it much for something like this. The cost is mostly for the materials (at a buck) and time. But I get it.
I’d love some Windstone charms though… (no, I won’t buy one now) Charm stores charge a fortune to make custom charms…. (like $15-20 for a tiny 9mm one, $30-35 for 18mm ones)

They are fun, aren’t they? I have some anime ones and some customs of guinea pigs and such. Too bad you just know some of them aren’t really right in the copyright department.

Thanks wolflodge 🙂 I’m sending it to him now.
September 29, 2007 at 4:10 am #621606👿 👿 No No No! That is NOT okay! 👿 That is TOTALLY ripping Windstone off and using a photo of THEIRS (not to mention an image of their work) and selling it. It makes no mention of Windstone either. Heck, simply mentioning it in the auction couldnt hurt them as Windstone doesnt sell charms (so no competition there).
I photoed a friend during the winter horse show season in FL. A Canadian equestrian magazine was doing an aritcle on him. He thought it would be nice to bring some of my photos (in hopes he could return the favor of free photos by getting me published and paid by the mag). As respectable mags do, they called for approval and permission to use one of my photos, we spoke money and I got photo credit. Thats how it should work.
My long winded point here is that, this photo of the Wizard Frog is one of Windstones and not only should they have been asked if their image could be reproduced (look at you guys with your siggies- you put (c) Windstone and it’s on the forum!), but if they could create something using a Windstone for their own profit.
Sorry for the rant but this makes me crazy (as do the blatant rips offs in the name of “inspiration.”) If I didnt care about Windstone, Id not be riled up about this. Sorry for the length but it’s better than a ton of expletives. !@#&^%!
September 29, 2007 at 5:55 am #621607Wow, that’s a new ploy.
September 29, 2007 at 10:21 am #621608Ick. Thats a new one.
September 29, 2007 at 3:44 pm #621609Mmm, not really. Hundreds of these pass through ebay with Kingdom Hearts images on them. Other games and high end animes get stolen from too.
To anyone buying these- NONE of them are okay. These people NEVER get permission before making and selling these.
