I did a griffin, and I hate it. He isn’t completed yet, but every session has been a dissapointment. It’s too dark, not enough detailing, the antiquing came out crappy. What do I do with him? Can I just spray paint him white and start over? Do I just call it quits and put him up on ebay?

there must be a way to remove the paint– is it in really think layers?
I would probably figure out a new paint sceme– and paint the entire thing in the main color of the new theme.
you should post a pic- then we can give you advice– maybe it isn’t as bad as you think and only parts will need a repaint.

    You are right…..hang on.

I haven’t antiqued the wings or feathered portion of the body yet. I just gave up last night and stopped.

if you hate everything about it you can just spray paint it white and start over, but you can also go wash it off. 🙂
But really its not that bad. I did a little quick photoshop magic with the first idea that popped into my head. Going darker in the center of each feather and then adding spots would add sparkle to him!

I’ve just painted over them before and started over. You loose a little detail, but it just looks like a soft feather griffin when it’s done. You CAN remove th epaint, but it’s really hard to get every little bit off and if you don’t you’ll have remnants of it in the new paint job. Like raised areas and lumps.

I drop them out the window onto the driveway 2 stories down! Or sometimes the sledge gets them. There was that one we strapped a bunch of M80s to… 😆

Best to follow everyone else’s advice here!!

You can scrub off the paint while running hot water over it. But it does take time. I’ve done that successfully. And the fresher the paint the easier it is to get off. The longer it has sat on the statue the harder it is.

While hiding somewhere in my head I'm on the lookout for white oriental dragons! Please let me know if you know of any available. Thank you!

Thanks!! Whippet, I’m gonna give that idea a go. I also picked up some additional colors…

Now, if it doesn’t work I’m gonna test gravity with him!! 😆

            #537792

Or maybe you could send him to someone else and they could fix him up.

            #537793

Heh, I actually just set him aside for now. I’ll fix him, but it won’t be until after I’m done with my next wolf and a dragon….

Well, I can say honestly right now I’m detesting the one I’m working on right now. So far I’ve had to go over each and every scale over and over. I’ve had peeling paint, the colours are awful and I couldn’t stand how it was turning out. The worst part about it is, it’s for someone else. It has to get done. Otherwise I’d be throwing it off the balcony. Oh well it will get done even if I have to paint each scale 10 times. I’ll do it. I’ll hate it every step of the way but, it’ll get done.

I do think that whippets idea is the best for your guy.

I paint mine all black and go from there.
