Did FedEx ever figure out what happened to the boxes?
May 20, 2008 at 8:15 pm #694238I wondered that too. Did they just disappear into the ‘ether’?

May 21, 2008 at 6:12 am #694239I called Fedex this morning and asked for a status report. They said that they essentially ignoring the issue of what happened to the boxes, that even though I had purchased $400 dollars worth of insurance for the 2 boxes, because I had sent them Fedex ground instead of express, and they were ceramic, they were only covered for $100 per box, so they were only refunding me $100 per box plus the the $24.89 shipping fee. I said why was this not explained to me when I bought the insurance? All I got was I’m sorry, that’s all I can do. I’m so tired of all this, I said fine, I’ll take it, it’s better than nothing which is more than I have now. Then in the morning mail I got a envelope from Fedex with 2 letters in it. One says sorry, you should have requested a signature in 3 different ways, so we aren’t responsible because you didn’t. The other one says, sorry, we needed some proof of value, like a receipt, a bill, copy of a money order, purchase order, etc. and you didn’t give us that so we are closing our investigation. They never asked me for any of that which would have been difficult but not impossible to produce. So I got less than half of what the dragons were worth, and I learned a LOT and it’s OVER! Finally! I learned I can file a missing box report with Fedex, that I need to ship Windstones express not ground if I am going to insure them for more than $100, that I need to get paid BEFORE I ship (which I already knew but ignored),and that I can get really good suggestions from the forum when I have a problem! THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! You are the GREATEST!!! 😀
May 21, 2008 at 6:24 am #694240I’m sorry you lost out on this whole deal, drgnlvr. But at least you got a bit of the money refunded.
May 21, 2008 at 6:43 am #694241those are some expensive lessons. I’m glad you got something back and closure on the whole thing. I still need to go down to USPS and file to have my money order refunded to me if it’s not already cashed 🙁
May 21, 2008 at 10:02 am #694242I’m so sorry that you’re not getting full value on your dragons, drgnlvr. I am a big believer in karma though…so hopefully something really wonderful will be coming your way soon. I believe things will even out for whoever has those free dragons, too. 👿
May 21, 2008 at 11:49 am #694243ouch… *hands consolation chocolate* so sorry for you having to go through this mess… 🙁

Well damn! That’s pretty shabby treatment you got there. I have never dealt with FedEx (we have an account with UPS), so didn’t know much about them; I was thinking that FedEx would work pretty much the same as UPS.
My advice here, now, is to let the matter drop and put this all behind you. Don’t let it interfere with your happiness.
But I still find that $100.00 amount odd. According to the FedEx “Terms and conditions” the maximum insured amount for ceramic, glass, artwork etc. is $500.00, not $100.00.
But: “Only one claim can be filed in connection with a shipment. Acceptance of payment of a claim shall extinguish any right to recover in connection with that shipment.”
May 21, 2008 at 4:54 pm #694246I agree, very shabby. I’ve not had a good time with FedEx’s customer service either, but I was hoping that was just me (an isolated case). Sad. 🙁

My art: featherdust.comMay 21, 2008 at 6:05 pm #694247Fedex puts my packages outside of my apartment *building* on the corner of main street! They are either gone or smashed by the time I find them. I always ask sellers to please ship usps or ups and not fedex.
May 21, 2008 at 6:45 pm #694248Never liked Fedex. The one time I got a parcel, I was home. He was holding the box with his tablet thing on top. When he wanted me to sign, he just dropped the box (from chest level) on the ground and picked up his tablet. I just about had a heart attack cause I knew it was a Windstone inside. 😯 Now I know how they treat boxes but would it be a hardship to bend over and put the box down, at least in front of the customer? 😕
May 21, 2008 at 7:00 pm #694249Can’t stand Fedex – have had several problems with their customer (dis)service. I much prefer UPS.
May 22, 2008 at 6:39 am #694250Thank you so much! *munching on the delicious chocolate!* Next time I ship something, no matter how, I will educate myself more thoroughly about what I am buying in insurance! I was even advised by my PO not to buy anything on ebay ever, because they rarely honored insurance claims! How about THAT! I guess the same goes for the other shipping companies unless it is so grossly their fault and even so, it is such a hassle!
Anyway, I have 2 other disputes with injured dragons to fight with the PO about, one with a cooperative seller and one with a seller less so. More lessons to be learned! One thing I know for sure: if you’re gonna sell Windstones, LEARN HOW TO PACK ‘EM!! It’s NOT THAT BLOODY HARD!! If I can do it, ANYBODY CAN!!! There! I said it and I’m glad! So I’m off to defend the dragons!! 😆May 22, 2008 at 9:57 am #694251Both times I needed to file an insurance claim for eBay items with USPS they paid me for the items. One time with UPS, too. I’m sorry you’re having such bad experiences:-/
