September 22, 2008 at 8:20 am #733343I like Easter best, because we are finally through winter, and I know spring is really here, everything is bright and pretty, the world survived another year, summer is coming with all the wonderful fruit and vegetables and blue skies and flowers and travel and summer festivals and Easter means the world is beginning again and there is hope again. For me, Easter is the new year, not New Years. Daylight savings time starts, so the days get longer with more light to brighten things up after the gloom and darkness of winter. I get seasonal affective disorder (SAD) really bad, so the lack of sunlight affects me a lot. So Easter is a big time of celebration! YESSS!!!

It seems like a double edged sword; both the best and worst of of us comes out in this holiday.
If we could only concentrate on family, good cheer, the warmth of loved ones and enjoying being warm when it’s so cold out…
If only we could do without the mass consumerism, and the most wasteful time of year…
I chose Halloween.
Have you noticed that Halloween is headed that way? π Around here it’s all about the decorating and the parties. I’m not talking Harvest Festival or costume parties for the kids. Everything seems to get more elaborate and more commercial every year. Guess all the Holidays are in one way or another.
Oh well, I just do what I enjoy and ignore the rest. πSeptember 22, 2008 at 11:21 am #733345tasgrs wrote:
Christmas we’ll go out and carol from horseback,
We do that too π We dress up and do up the horses as well π We ride around town handing out candy and singing carols. When we’re done we go to the local nursing home and they bring the residents out to interact with a couple of the horses. Since this is a big farm area most of them had horses when they were younger. We started with just the five of us eleven years ago. Last year we had 23 riders and a couple of mule drawn wagons π It was great. This year we are having a cook out after wards. I can hardly wait 8)September 22, 2008 at 7:13 pm #733346twindragonsmum wrote:What has Michel chosen for this year? Sean wants to be a Borg from the Star Trek series; Ethan is still thinking…. π

September 22, 2008 at 9:07 pm #733347Halloween. Blacklights, skulls, webbing, pumpkins, fodder shocks, haybales, and kids of all ages! I get to hand candy out this year! And decorate! I am so excited! (yeah, yeah…I do dress up too. π³ ) π
I’m a Toys-R-Us kid for life. What can I say? π
