September 20, 2008 at 8:49 pm #733328I LOOOVVVVEEEE Christmas π π

I buy tons of candy as well hoping for more kids, but the amount of kids who come by keep dwindling each year π I end up giving each kid 5 or 6 pieces of candy to deplete my stocks (otherwise, I’d eat all the leftovers π³ ).
Anyways, does my birthday count as a a holiday? π If not, then Christmas is my favorite Holiday.
September 20, 2008 at 9:47 pm #733330I love Christmas because it’s the only time of year the whole family gets together — and makes an effort not to argue or talk politics, heheh. And I like just sitting in the living room at night with a cup of something hot, a purring cat in my lap, and the only lights being on the Christmas tree.
Oh… and white Christmases are the best. I love looking out the front windows on Christmas Eve and seeing snow falling in the light of the street lamps. No matter how old I get, I still think there’s something magical in that π³
September 20, 2008 at 9:54 pm #733331I have to say I love Thanksgiving (I just hope the death of a loved one last year won’t drag it down again this year….)
I used to love Christmas. But, as the years go on I’m starting to dislike it more and more. But, I work in retail. So, I can honestly say that’s more than likely why.

White Christmas *sigh* We don’t get that here and I really miss it. π I grew up in Michigan.
BUT No snow and ice and slush to shop in either πSeptember 20, 2008 at 10:58 pm #733333It was a tie between Christmas and Halloween, but I chose Halloween… what other day of the year can I dress up like Sir Bevedere (blue) from Monty Python and the Holy Grail? My fiancee is Sir Robin (green) and our King Arthur backed out. After all that sheet cutting I went through for him! Tsk Tsk.
OMG my apartment was a mess…. π
But I do like seeing people’s faces when I find them the *PERFECT* gift at Christmas. But since my fiancee’s birthday is the 26th of October… I still get to give around Halloween so… π
September 21, 2008 at 12:48 am #733334I love the concept of what Christmas is… but I dislike what it has become in practice for most Americans.
It seems like a double edged sword; both the best and worst of of us comes out in this holiday.
If we could only concentrate on family, good cheer, the warmth of loved ones and enjoying being warm when it’s so cold out…
If only we could do without the mass consumerism, and the most wasteful time of year…
I chose Halloween.

My art: featherdust.comSeptember 21, 2008 at 1:20 am #733335Hallowe’en, then Christmas. I gave up on the idea of the kids coming to the house to trick or treat, so the neighbors and I get dressed up and go out on horseback with candy to give out. We hit a few houses of friends, and the horses get carrots, apples or peppermints, and we get beer! What could be better? π
But we get to keep an eye on the neighborhood and the kids get a kick out of the horses. We have one neighbor who hates carrots, but she’ll go out of her way to buy a great big bag just to feed the horses. πChristmas we’ll go out and carol from horseback, or if we’re lucky enough to have snow, we use horse drawn sleighs. I love putting up the tree and decorating it, but taking it back down again isn’t any fun….. π
I do all my shopping online, too, and usually just have it gift wrapped, since Lamorte is right; people around here don’t seem to get any better for the holiday. π―September 21, 2008 at 2:03 am #733336St. Patrick’s Day!!! But that’s cuz I’m a bit of a drinker….
Christmas is good family time for me but I’m always broke so I can never afford lots of presents for everyone.
Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday to be with family and to gain more pounds (of which I discover over and over again each year, lol)My most wanted list: Peacock kitty wizard, carnelian mouse wizard, copper patina frog wizard, autumn leaf poads, pumpkin spice kitties

September 21, 2008 at 3:14 am #733338I think I’m gonna miss all the treats grandma makes for Christmas… she buys me diabetic cookbooks but doesn’t take the diabetes into account when she cooks… π I’m gonna mention it this year and help her make one or two goodies I can eat… π
September 21, 2008 at 4:11 am #733339An answer that wasn’t up there… I like them all for my own reasons. They are all wonderful in one way or another. π
September 21, 2008 at 11:57 pm #733340tasgrs, I could hand out candy to the little kids in the afternoon and still be out there in time to help you patrol the neighborhood! π π j/k
September 22, 2008 at 12:10 am #733341I chose Halloween first then Chrismass.
What I love most of Halloween is decorating!
The fall colors and the spider webs everywhere! π
I don’t get any visits from a particular friend at that time of year… π she fears spiders even fake ones and I have a few at the entrance and my son’s bedroom.
Making Michel’s costume is also great…since he tells me a year in advance what he wants to be next year and never changes his mind, so plenty of time! π -
