I’ve used UPS the most and never had any problems, and the few times that I’ve used FedEx and DHL I’ve never had any problems either.
So I think its like others in this thread have said, its just luck as to whether you have problems.

I got them 3 days later, after they had been sitting out in really cold weather. When I called to complain I asked if they could highlight my address with a note so this wouldn’t happen again (my address is somewhat confusing) and the girl said it was impossible. I had a similar problem with UPS, called them and they fixed it. So I wouldn’t be using Fedex if I have any say.
Yeah Fedex delivered my packages to a house several miles away! Luckily the person that got them was kind enough to look up my name and call me to let me know, because Fedex said it wasn’t possible and since it had been ‘delivered’ they wouldn’t take responsibility. Anyway this guy called me and was like “I have boxes for you!” which was awesome of him. He didn’t have to! I’m so glad, because it was a huge order of prints I had made for an art show. $400 worth, easily. I almost had a heart attack when it said ‘delivered’ and they weren’t here.
At least I only had to go next door. Personally, I think that since Fedex was paid for a service (to deliver the items to a particular address) and they failed to deliver (pun intended) they should have reimbursed some if not all of the shipping. To tell you that the package had been delivered and they wouldn’t fix it is crap. Lousy customer service – one of my pet peeves.
I don’t know how they could possibly say that they are not responsible when they were the ones to deliver it to the wrong place. If you had lost the items, I bet threatening a lawsuit could have got them moving to find your things.
February 9, 2007 at 11:02 pm #537457i definitely agree that fedex is awful! where i work we get deliveries from everyone and fedex is trouble when it comes to packages.i personally like usps i have always had good experiences. we get fish and plants 2x a week and fedex loves to take our fish which are marked “fragile live fish this end up” and SLAM them UPSIDE down on our counter!! they laugh away too when we shriek. of course we report them etc. but overall the suppliers say they have good results with them and won’t switch.they have been a little better as of late since we’ve berated the delivery guys so much though. they let are plants get cold and freeze too. also my dad has had many clients recieve packages from fedex that were damaged but they hid the damage until the person signed they showed em. someone shipped a painting and fedex punctured the box thru all the packing and thru the painting but not thru the box on the other side!the guy didn’t want to take the flack, so he leaned it against their house, good side out, told them “it was fine how you doing today?” distracting with conversation, got the signature and RAN to the truck and sped off!! of course the person picks it up, turns it around and sees the mess and is devastated… though they should have really checked first, but the point is they were being sneaky.
personally i regularly get punctured boxes from ups or fedex. my sister moved a few years ago and shipped alot of stuff via ups and they broke every single box, one of which the guy dropped right in front of us, somehow tipped it off his hand-truck( i have no idea HOW!) dropping it in the road the box splitting open shattering all of my sis’s dishes right in the middle of traffic!! mind you the box wouldn’t have split normally but they had totally pulverized every single box- she moves all the time so she is a master packer, but it looked like they beat these boxes with bats. they also lost 6 i think out of 13. he wasn’t even sorry- he was pissed he had to pick em up!! my sis was crying for days as they were her dream dishes she had saved for years to get, some super fancy artisan ones, service for a ton of people.
anyhoo, those are just my tales, i know peeps have opposite results other places.just thought i’d put in my two cents. it was more than that ,but oh well. i ramble.February 10, 2007 at 4:37 am #537458I was surprised when I tried to ship Ski her Large Peacock Cat Wizard they told me they could not ship to the I think it was an AP address that she gave me so I HAD to go to USPS and it get there just fine and I was surprised that it got there so quickly

It would be an APO address. APO stands for something like Atlantic Post Office meaning it’s going to an American Military Post via the Atlantic Ocean. There is PPO as well which stands for PPO – Pacific Post office and goes the opposite way.

thank you for the clarification I did not know that. I just sent her a box and coudl not send it priority so they marked it asa which the lady told me stands for as space allowsFebruary 10, 2007 at 9:28 pm #537461You know what. I have used USPS and UPS most of the time. I really haven’t used Fedex for packages, but for important letters I have.
UPS actually shipped a expensive gift to another house. I called and told them that I haven’t received it but it said delivered. The person who received the package called around and found my phone number. We arranged a time to pick it up. I called UPS after and they said they would talk to the driver (which was a fill in for the regular one). After that all of my packages have been delivered and he even knows where to put them hidden so I don’t have to go pick them up. I used DHL once and they broke a guitar….never will use them again.February 10, 2007 at 9:54 pm #537462OUCK I’m sure that cost a pretty penny
February 11, 2007 at 5:43 am #537463Yeah it cost $400 to fix the guitar body and with it being a vintage guitar it decreased the value a lot.
February 11, 2007 at 9:25 pm #537464I don’t mind UPS, but the delivery guy for this area is getting to know me very well by the number of Windstone boxes he delivers. I took the time to show him some of the pieces and he really likes them!
Windstone collector in remission. 😉
February 11, 2007 at 11:54 pm #537465My last UPS delivery man was my ex-uncle-in-law. He was great, he would jsut put them in the garage if no one was home. My new guy is also very good, but I am jsut getting to know him. My postal workers are slow slovenly things which can taek up to 3 days just to get my letters or packages out. So, if I have to send it USPS I go over 30 miles to my hometown postoffice and send form there. Usually they are pretty good, but it has taken a while so far for Ski’s payment to get to her. I hope it gets there soon. 👿

Another potential buyer, Tyrrlin? That’s great you’re spreading the word!

APO stands for Army Post Office. AE is Army in Europe, AP is Army in Pacific, and AA is Army in the Americas. 🙂
