No warrenty anyway, the car mall I bought it from went out of business earlier this year. I got it used, but it seems to be driving fine…just no gears I want I can seem to find.

Not good, you’re going to need to take it to a repair shop, you also might want to look into getting a used tranny from a junkyard, you might get lucky and find a rolled truck with a good tranny in it.

Might be cheaper to pay to replace it with a used one than to have your old one rebuilt…just remember it is an option. We got a tranny for our Dodge for $400 that way, versus the $2k they want to rebuild it…ouch. Unfortunately with a used one it might not last long, our lasted a little over a year before dying again, but it bought us some time.

Well, it’s a Ford, so worst case I don’t think it would be over $500 for a new one. Hopefully that’s not the case and it’s a shifting problem.

At least Rab fading is pretty much the only bad luck I have had this year. All in all im pretty blessed. Many other have had it alot worse and Rab has had a good life. I just hope it’s not over yet. For those of you with struggles of your own, I’m prayin for you.

I had a Ford Escort, the transmission cost me $2k to rebuild, and it was a 1990…and the rebuild occurred in 1998…the Dodge is a 1993 and it is still $2K to rebuild it, $1500 if I want a rebuilt tranny and do it myself.

Trust me, trannys are expensive no matter how you slice it, so be prepared for sticker shock. Also, slipping is not necessarily an easy fix, likely rebuilding it will be the only option they give you.

If this is an automatic, then it will be very expensive, if it is a manual, it may not be that bad. Both the cars mentioned above are automatics, which is why our current vehicles are all manuals. Automatic tranmissions are just bad juju, break easily and cost more than the car is worth to fix in most cases.

It’s an automatic of course 🙄 Maybe if I ignore it, it will go away *wishful thinking*

Ski, I hope Rab starts feeling better. Though it sounds bleak, as long as he is confortable to spend what time he may have left being loved and spoiled by you, I don’t think he could ask for more.

              Good Luck EVERYONE
I ended up with an account in the lovely world of Collections this year for the fist time EVER.
They have offered a settlement for $2900 BUT it all has to be paid in FULL but 1-29-09. It will be down to $2500 by 1-15-09 but I’m not sure where to go to get the other $2500. If it’s not paid by then the balance goes back up to like $5000

I hope the year is better for everyone… my addition to the list is 2 previous teachers (one who my family was good friends with) died of cancer last month, and a good friend from church is not expected to last to Christmas. It’s been a tough year. Pet problems, everyone and their pets seem to be getting cancer…. *sigh*

So far our family is OK, I simply can’t find a job and I’m floundering along on what little I make at Penney’s and my temp job at the Rec.

If anybody in the Midwest hears of a graphic design job, think of me!

Here’s hoping 2009 will be kinder to everyone all around.
